But Arkansas roster is far more expensive then KU. The NIL allows non blue bloods to recruit at the highest level.Kansas won the Big 12 outright Bobby lol

Yeah honestly Arkansas is a better example. Texas has always had good coaching and tremendous players, they’ve just **** the bed a ton in the tournament. But Arkansas roster is far more expensive then KU. The NIL allows non blue bloods to recruit at the highest level.

Walmart money.Where do people find out what schools are paying in NIL?
Yeah.Offensively, Hoiberg could X and O as well as anybody.
there were a bunch of write ups on it last spring. They ran out of scholarships but still got a couple of great players that had to walk on, it didn't matter there were not on scholarship as they got paid so much it off set it.Where do people find out what schools are paying in NIL?
Nothing against Otzelberger, but I think you’re minimizing Fred a little.Yeah.
If you have all the right musical instruments you can have a nice symphony orchestra.
TJ has like three accordions, two plastic recorders, a triangle, a kazoo, and a keytar at his disposal on offense.
Point being, Fred has struggled in Lincoln because he hasn't done a good job getting the right guys to play his system there. His success at ISU was less in the offensive system he ran, but who he recruited to run it. Otz was smart enough to know he could at least win games with a defensive mindset for a couple years and he's on a much more solid footing because of it.
This one is on TJ
Offensive strategy isn’t great, but they also missed tons of open shots and free throws. That’s on the players.
our offense was second in the league until Grill got hurt. So the staff did a good job with offense until that happened.I'd love to hear the OP offer a suggestion on what we should have been doing differently offensively. The truth of the matter we had horrible roster makeup offensively. We don't have guys that can create their own shot or hit an open jumper. John Wooden himself couldn't have figured out how to make that team score consistently.
Grill was fine but he was shooting 36% from 3. The next best was Gabe at 35%. Aside from them we didn't have much else. Ideally you should have at minimum 3(I would say 4 these days) consistently good three point shooters on the floor at all times. You are not wrong but he had one of the best shooters in the conference until he got hurt then subsequently went crazy.
You’re completely correct but Jaren was actually shooting 37% from three at that point. And whether it was directly caused by Grill or just a coincidence, he shot 30% the rest of the year following that home game vs Texas.Grill was fine but he was shooting 36% from 3. It's a double edged sword as a slower pace was likely required to keep opponents from getting out and running a ton, but I do think at times there are possessions where the first 20 seconds or so of the clock aren't really spent trying to generate good looks so the end result is a rushed/forced shot.I'd love to hear the OP offer a suggestion on what we should have been doing differently offensively. Oklahoma State won 27 games with Doug Gottlieb starting for them. In case you forgot senior Gottlieb:I AGREE...If you can't score ... You cant win, its just that simple. If Lipsey can not consistently hit a three point shot then he should not be the starter IMHO
And Tyson. And JB Hunt.Walmart money.
Oklahoma State won 27 games with Doug Gottlieb starting for them. In case you forgot senior Gottlieb:
Freshman Lipsey:
- scored 5.9 points a game
- shot .410 from the field
- shot .184 from 3 and
- shot .433 from the FT line.
So yeah, a point guard can help a team even if they aren't a great outside shooter.
- scored 7.3 points a game
- shot .482 from the field
- shot .200 from 3 and
- shot .759 from the FT line.
But I think it is moot because Lipsey is a harder worker than Gottlieb ever was and he will work his tail off improving his game to give his team what they need out of him.
Plus I just think basketball has changed a ton since Gottlieb was playing. Wayyyyy more emphasis on the three point shot/spacing nowadays. It's just not an apples to apples thing. With names like Desmond Mason, Glendon Alexander, Brian Montonabi and Joe Adkins as running mates, Doug didn't have to do anything but what hall of famer Eddie Sutton told him. Unfortunately ISU right now has no where near that type of talent thus a scoring point guard would be huge help.
And I would probably go back and re-watch some of his old OSU games before I make the claim Lipsey is a harder worker than Gottlieb ever was. Nothing against Lipsey....Doug was a bulldog. That's coming from LE and others. He was someone you loved to hate.
Gottlieb was tough in games - I recall him picking a fight with Fizer in the Big 12 Tourney semi-final trying to get them both kicked out because he knew it would be a net gain for OSU. He succeeded in drawing a double technical. But I don't think he was fooling anyone that he was anything near a gym rat with shooting extra shots to improve his atrocious three point and free throw shooting or even off season conditioning and weight lifting. Both his 3 point and FT averages actually went down through his college career. With names like Desmond Mason, Glendon Alexander, Brian Montonabi and Joe Adkins as running mates, Doug didn't have to do anything but what hall of famer Eddie Sutton told him.
