When was the last time we had someone run for 100 yards vs Iowa? Bodes well for us.
2017, Montgomery (112). Bit of an outlier since it was a 44-41 score.

ISU leading rusher in previous 15 CyHawk games (warning: not pretty):
2021 - 69 Hall
2019 - 54 Nwangwu
2018 - 44 Montgomery
2017 - 112 Montgomery
2016 - 31 Nwangwu
2015 - 23 Ryen
2014 - 33 Wimberly
2013 - 26 White
2012 - 40 Jantz
2011 - 108 Johnson
2010 - 48 Robinson
2009 - 100 Robinson
2008 - 61 Robinson
2007 - 80 Bass
2006 - 74 Meyer

Duh!
Isn't it pretty much the same Iowa team as last year, without the lucky bounces?
That oline was not the same without the stud center and they had injuries at different positions, as well as WR transfers. Not the same team.

I didn't understand the Hawkeye complaints about the bitters sideline catch. Did they think it moved after his feet left the ground? To me, looked like a catch all the way thru.

Not MVP worthy for this game, but seems like MJ Anderson is having a really good year on the DL.
I know they called offsides on his huge play at the end, but what an awesome move from him. If he can either take advantage of the attention McDonald draws as a pass rusher or make the defense do something other than triple team Will it will help a ton.

Part of me sees Reeder fly in on a play and think for split second Mike Rose is still on the team.
I really like Reeder. I think he looked way more comfortable in week 2 than week 1. I love the evolution of that Sam linebacker spot. We started out with speed guy linebackers for blitzing, to be in box and cover (Willie Harvey) Went to Mike Rose to defend run and bubbles because he was unblockable by slot wr and played pass well. I think Reeder is a merge of 2. Can blitz better than a Rose not as good as Harvey. Can stop run and bubble better than Harvey not as good as Rose. Love the pick up. However, TJ Tampa was my defensive MVP. He caused 2 turnovers and once Heacock let him and Purchase play man 2 man along with Ant in the slot against the TE it really shut them down. I expected 17 to show up more in the run game but not sure if he was staying deep mostly to help corners. Anyhoo, I know they won't be perfect but those kids are fast and much improved at corner.

Have to go with our team leader- X.
But for his first start on the road, to lead his team on a game winning 21 play drive, pretty damn impressive by Dekkers. TOE fans know we have a good one.

Maybe someone could overlay Yakety Sax to "the drive" video highlights, ala NE vs ISU.

McDonald had a sneaky good play on the 3rd down draw that Iowa ran. He identified it right away and kept that from breaking for a first down. He was fantastic today even if he didn't have a sack.

Stuff like this has to scare the bejesus out of future offensive coordinators, a non 1 dimensional Will McDonald is scary

Every year a new guy steps onto the scene in a big way. Rus was that guy last year. So far this year Aiden Bitter might be that guy.

Darien Porter made an absolutely huge play on that deep pass to Arland Bruce at the end of the game.

I'll take Hunter Dekkers as my MVP. This year was my first experience at Kinnick, and damn, that place is loud. The crowd did NOT make it easy for him at all. How many times did you see pre-snap confusion? a play that was rushed because of the play clock winding down? or players be out of position? In total I counted 3-4 plays that might have had any issues due to Dekkers (and he touches the ball every snap, minus the one wildcat play). Even the 2 int's weren't horrific mistakes. Without his poise, we lose this game easily.

TJ Tampa was an absolute beast on D. MJ Anderson too. The entire O-line played outstanding, 1 false start is damn good for that stadium. Obviously X had a fantastic game.

You know - this is going to sound crazy cause it is - but I'll throw out Jace Gilbert for honorable mention. He made a chippy, yes, but he made it and hit the PAT.. I've seen other kickers shank it and at the very worst it guaranteed us over time if Iowa had made their kick.

X was likely the best player on the field, but Dekkers was the MVP. Dekkers has 2 int's and had to continuously throw catchable balls on the 99-yard drive. If he had swagger before the game, he's moon-walking now.
