One player's jersey will hang from a rafter someday. The other will likely get spot work as a stunt double for the actor playing Skeletor when Michael Bay remakes He-Man Masters of the Universe in five years.

Give me the guy that's won more than one tournament game and against someone other than Davidson in his career.

Not that I disagree with you but hasn't Georges only won 2 ncca games?

It comes down to crunch time. Would you rather have a player play an amazing 37 minute game, but disappear at the end of the game when his team needs him most? Or have a player play a consistently great 37 minutes and then get even better in the final 3 minutes and actually ask for the ball because they want to take that last shot?

As long as Iowa blows out inferior opponents, the first player is fine. Tight game at the end of regulation? Forget it.

Additionally, Niang is a very unorthodox player. Everything from his odd-timed jumpshot release, to his un-blockable hook shot, to his spins and post moves make him a way harder player to guard. Uthoff is a lot more straightforward player. Somebody who bodies him up takes him out of his comfort zone.

I don't really know because the only Iowa game I've really watched is the one against us. I watched him dominate for 20 minutes and disappear in the clutch

I'm glad Iowa fans are happy with Uthoff.

I wouldn't trade Georges for probably anyone in the country.

Advanced stats seem to tell a slightly different story. While Niang is a slightly more efficient shooter than Uthoff, Uthoff is a better rebounder (higher rebound %), turns it over less (much lower TO%), and obviously wins the defensive categories.

Uthoff also leads Niang in PER and Win Shares per 40 minutes.

Niang is marginally better than Uthoff offensively, but Uthoff is substantially better than Niang defensively. Uthoff is statistically having a better season, and the advanced stats show that he is a slightly better player. Anyone that thinks this debate is one-sided in favor of a particular player is a moron and a huge homer.

Like any good old sports discussion, unless a clear rubric is shared, there is always a counter argument, bias involved, etc. That's why message boards and talk radio exist, right? :spinny:

Both exceptional talents.....if one gets first team AA at the end of the season and one second team....does that provide finality to the discussion? Is it about where a team finishes? How deep they go in the tourney? If they get drafted? Blah, blah, blah.

SPORTS!!!!

We say Georges. Iowa fans say Uthoff. Both are great players, so neither side is wrong.

Seems like non-biased people outside of ISU mostly going towards Uthoff.

Which is a good thing, because Niang will find out about this :)
I don't take issue with people having the opinion but I am not seeing that at all. Who are you talking about?

EDIT: I see you mentioned Reddit and I'm on there daily. That is not the case unless the flair is B1G. Also, it wouldn't matter even if they were because they are mostly a bunch of college kids and fans with too much time on their hands that don't know crap just like you and me.

Its easy to spot all the Iowa trolls posing as ISU fans in this thread. Especially all the ones with the very low post count. Uthoff and Jok are the only players from Iowa's team I would take for ISU if I could. Uthoff is having a great year. I would take Niang all day over Uthoff. That said, I think either team takes a huge tank if they were to lose either of these players to injury.

Plus going off PER Niang is better than Uthoff. Lol on the 40 minute thing though

Lol, what website are you looking at? Uthoff's PEr is better than Niang's. Also, when Niang plays substantially more minutes than Uthoff, his win shares are going to be inflated. On a per minute basis, Uthoff is much better.

You either have no idea how to use advanced stats or are using a fake website.

Niang likely logs more minutes than Uthoff because of the lack of depth.

Tbe biggest difference between the two teams has been guard play at crucial moments.

Niang and it's not even close. Any ISU fan that picks Uthoff should be banned and publicly shamed.

Uthoff Most overrated player in the country. He's good, but his donkey face negates that.

Niang has no one in his league in Iowa or any state that borders Iowa. The only question that should be asked is if uthoff is even better than Monte Morris? I say no.

Teamrankings.com Niang has a higher PER on a per game basis. Nobody cares about per 40. You see ESPN flash points per game or points per 40? Maybe Uthoff should play more if he's so much better. Niang has a better offensive and defensive rating than Uthoff
