You guys really need to set your passing goal a little higher than just 3000 yards. OSU threw for 3149 yards and we only made a bowl by the skin of our teeth. I would think you'd shoot for something more like 3500 if you want to take the next step up.

Last year, Richardson threw for an average of 5.9 yards/attempt on 451 attempts. If he can raise his per attempt average to the 7.3 yards/attempt that Trevor Knight averaged in 2014 and throw just 25 more attempts, you could hit 3467 yards, and would have a much better chance of making a bowl.

That would break the all time record here

Actually if ISU could hit that 3000 yards passing mark but up the per game rushing mark from the 124 yards a game up to 200 yards per game it might go just as far or even further toward a successful season that would end up being 2400 rushing yards on the year - another 1,000 yards. Being able to control the ball and the clock would go a long way toward helping what is likely to be a marginal and not very deep defense.

With the talent we have I don't see why we can't just throw those 6 yard out routes and pick teams apart. It seems like teams like Oklahoma State and TTU can pick teams apart just throwing 6-7 yard passes. Just quick cut routes

That's what Mangino tries to do. Part of the problem with that is last year we couldn't run or stretch the field vertically.

Skip to about 1:45. We might have a guy that can stretch the field this fall!

I think we will. I personally don't know how much of it is an inability to and how much of it is a refusal too. The talent is there at receiver to do it even without Bundrage. I think the deep ball is an area Richardson can improve in, but the line also has to be able to give him the time to through it.

What about Montgomery? He was the go to guy the 2nd part of the season and I thought he was our best and most consistent WR last year.

Oh I like Montgomery too, but he was pretty much non-existent the first half of the season (IIRC).

Obviously it bodes better for this season that he came on at the end, but I wouldn't necessarily call him the most consistent. Either way, adding him to the 2 I already mentioned & it just supports my thinking that it's ridiculous to call the group 'average D1 receivers'.

Prove it on the field. We hear that the group is awesome longer than I've been on CF. It's an annual tradition.

Part of the problem is that we didn't really have a standard of "awesome" to judge by. I mean, when Tracy Henderson and Todd Blythe are the two best receivers of the past thirty years, that's not a terribly high bar to go by.

You also realize we have only had 1 guy throw for 3000+ yards ever, and his name was Seneca Wallace

These are big ifs I know given our history but if SR stays healthy ALL year along with Bund, AL and DM the passing yds records might be shattered. No idea if that means more wins but there is no denying the talent at WR. One thing we missed dearly was a fast, deep, threat...Bundrage was that guy and is now. Opens up AL and DM a lot more.

...still pretty average D1 receivers. Might be alright if there's time to throw and a running game.

I saw some blurb about Brunderage being a star....he's a decent player, but I was unaware of his stardom.

Back to basketball season...

Um, no. We have great talent at the WR position. The problem is we have below average talent at every other offensive position
