Likely won't see many issues as you will be in the warm part of the storm for 99% of the trip. Be aware for black ice though as there may be some freezing rain and slick roads.

It seems like a broken record but it is true with winter storms. Slight track changes can vastly change what happens and that is very true on this storm.

Also over the next week there will be several clipper systems coming through that will bring a small warm up before snow and bitter cold behind them.

Looks like they dropped us from 4-6 to 1-3 overnight.
Also appears we must have got the freezing rain, according to road conditions.

KIMT has us in 4-6 yet I guess. Wind will probably be the worst part, oh, and the ice

Southern shift and a tad colder means more snow for those of us in Eastern Iowa.

Lots of area schools cancelling in the Ames area. Possibly up to 7" of snow here in Ames. Fast moving storm also and then the bottom of the thermometer starts to drop in the coming days.

Things shifted quite a bit. NWS has Des Moines getting a lot more snow and ice then they were forecasting last night.

Drove home from the Twins Cities yesterday evening....talk about white knuckle driving. Luckily, we beat the stuff falling from the sky, but the winds were so high it was white out conditions at times from the ground snow blowing around. Got better just north of Ames. Stay safe out there everyone!

Typical 5 minute drive to work took 15 and the parking lot is a skating rink in South Waterloo. Fairly heavy freezing stuff coming down right now.

Sidewalks and parking lots were pretty sketchy this morning, but the roads seemed fine.
