Why was Dekkers lined up in shotgun before they changed their mind? They sneaked it easily earlier in the game. ISU needs an analytics guy to help them get over the hump in close games. We would have had 9 or 10 wins in each of the last 6 seasons if Campbell won his share of one score games.
my theory is there was never any intention of going for it, just a ruse to draw KU offsides. Decision to kick FG was made.

Jirehl going down on the first series and not returning had to have an impact on the effectiveness of the run game today

I'm kind of curious about the 'did not travel with the team' part of Norton's deal today.

Is the 'team-led' thing not going well this year?

Maybe that’s okay. Maybe, unfortunately, he’s already peaked.

I'm certainly not on the 'fire campbell' wagon, but as much credit as he gets, some should probably go to the fact that ISU has never been in a better situation for a coach to take over. Facilities finally up to a respectable level, fan attendance at all time highs, finally getting equal revenue within the conference, etc.

Way too early to be hoping he leaves, but it would be premature to call it doomsday if\when it happens down the road for whatever reason.

Hiring a coach is a crap shoot I’d prefer to avoid.

I'm fine with the crossers....that should beat man coverage consistently and if the crossers are smart enough to see zone they should be able to sit down. Kansas plays a ton of man so it should consistently move the ball.

The problem is Dekkers can't put the ball into the endzone consistently when precision becomes required.
It's fine if we're on schedule for 1st/2nd down, or if the route goes past the chains on 3rd/4th down. When the route is short of the sticks, then you're requiring the WR to not only make a catch over the middle but then also make a move up field after the catch. If it's 3rd down and you're already planning to go for it on 4th that's OK. I like the aggressiveness to think about going on 4th down, but I'd rather just convert the 3rd down...

Meh, I agreed with kicking, the other two kicks were a lot better than the last. You don't think he could miss 3 after going perfect for the year.
I think the other problem this exposes is how weak we are in 3rd/4th and short. The staff probably didn’t have faith we would get it because they have shown no clue how to handle it this year.
