Saw that LeBron took 2 yr 97 million extension. Be interesting to see what that gets the Lakers.

I feel like it's 2 things, no other team wants k.d. at the asking price that the nets want and k.d. is a giant baby and realizes his legacy is pretty well cemented as being the most talented Robin and not a batman.

It's almost impossible for the Nets to find a working solution to trade KD. One of the main issues is Houston has a pick swap option for their pick next year, meaning they have no incentive to tank next season. They need to try to win. Even if the team that trades for Durant sends back picks, they likely will be good with Durant so those will be late round picks.

So if they are trying to remain competitive in the short term, they need to thread the needle to find a team that has enough assets to keep the Nets competitive while also not emptying their roster because what good is getting Durant if you're no longer a title contender due to lack of depth everywhere else on the roster.

The Pelicans presented the most realistic scenario of a team that could make a trade that brought back value to the Nets, and had enough depth to remain a contender post trade. That would have been either Ingram plus rotation guys/picks or Zion straight up. But you also have to convince KD to want to play for the team that's trading for him, which makes this very complicated scenario even harder to find a solution too.

Also, if they had traded for Zion, which would have taken some huge balls from both teams to make that trade, the Nets would have had to move Ben Simmons because you can't acquire two players on rookie max extensions through trades. And trying to trade Simmons presents a whole other case of problems.
