An incredible 202.4 million people watched all or part of the Super Bowl across all media platforms yesterday. It is the most watch telecast of any kind in history.

The article includes a 45 minute 49ers Talk with Matt Maiocco at the end.

I would like to see someone here on this forum look in detail at each of the throws made by Purdy, particularly in the 2nd half, and give some clarity. At first glance, many of his throws were purposefully thrown at the feet of the receiver? Even the missed throw in the end zone for an apparent TD looked to be "off" for some reason, not directly related to a "bad throw" by Purdy.

Additionally, on some series, the ball was routinely tipped by a defensive lineman, and yet on other series/play calls Purdy had a "clean" (when was this new word introduced?) pocket to throw from. What is going on here? IMO, looks like bad play calling here, both at the throwing end and at the receiving end. Niners got out coached? Bad blocking schemes?

Disappointing outing by the niners.

So the defensive coordinator is falling on the sword for the sub par offensive playcalling? Got it.
Offensive play calling was absolutely suspect (look at the 3rd quarter), but clearly the defense wasn't reaching its potential the last half of the season. You saw in the 1st half of the SB how much talent they have and what they can achieve, but once the adrenaline wore off and it rested more on coaching, they couldn't hold up... again.

Weren't they still a top 10 defense by yards and top 3 scoring defense against a harder schedule than last year?

How has Moody not been cut yet? He’s a disaster and a choker. His body language is atrocious. The guy just looks miserable. Cut him yesterday.

Ok rant over.

An article with more details on the Wilks... departure:

I don’t think he was terrible as people view him but something was clearly messed up on that side of the ball. Hopefully he finds someone really good while they’re still in this championship window.

What shocks me and probably always will is that CMC was the league’s leading rusher, and they call 2 run plays for him THE ENTIRE 3RD QUARTER

The Chiefs switched from zone coverage to more man to man in the second half because Purdy was able to beat the zone. Also, the Chiefs defense blitzed on 51.2 percent of Purdy’s drop backs, their fourth-highest rate in a game since Spagnuolo joined the team in 2019.

"The zones, I just think their wideouts and quarterback are so good at their timing routes, and Brock Purdy is really good," Spagnuolo told Breer. "He knew when we were in certain things, and he found seams."
