Pate is usually pretty pro Cyclone so thought he might have us a bit higher than this:

His conference rankings this offseason have been based on performance and talent acquisition over the past 3 seasons. They are not designed to be a projection of how things will play out this fall.
Remember kids, there is no *whispers* offseason. Love Pate.

I think we move up after the Spring Game. I think 4-6 maybe. I haven't followed the transfers to ensure that'd be the deal breaker.

OK @Aclone, I embellished a little. We are 11-11 in the non conference schedule. 2020 we played 1 non conference game and lost to Louisiana. Every other year and most years we play at least 1AA game and then sprinkle in wins against SE Missouri St and Drake. I hope you are not satisfied with that record.

Im not gonna do the full standings until I can run the CFB mega picker or Big 12 predictior since the uneven schedules mess things up a bit

For ISU I think 9-3 is pretty reasonable this year

It’s going to be tough going 8-4 when we start 1-2 or 0-3 in the non conference AGAIN. Prove me wrong Campbell and company I am anxiously awaiting your response.
CMC has started 2-1 to start the season more often than he has 1-2 (once last year) and 0-3 (once first yr.)

Great attempt to read something in that isn’t there, thanks.

UND and Arkansas State are Ws and Iowa is a tossup. More likely to start 3-0 than 1-2 or worse.

I hope so. I want us to win them all. I got disappointed with coach when he acted like the non conference wasn’t what he was concentrating on (or something to that effect). I know he wants to win and I’m glad he’s our coach.

Honestly, in the old system it didn't matter.

Iowa State's only way into the NY6 was to win the Big 12. It's not a ton different with the expanded playoff but there is a little more margin there to sneak in the back door with a 11-2 type season.

That's what I said about Ohio last year...

Granted these are both at home, and I do agree they are 90%+ win probability. We also don't have food poisoning, breaking in a new QB, et al.
