Another thing I was thinking about with Yonger is I bet the first day, the pain tolerance was pretty easy. However after a full day of guys handfighting and yanking on the hands, it’s going to get worse and worse. You could also tell he didn’t want to fire off shots he normally does as that requires grip strength around the leg or ankle. He pretty much tried to keep it all upper body. Sucks, but he’s going to be a man on a mission next year and I would not want to wrestle him
Honestly, I think Yonger’s problem was more mental than physical. You can hear it in Dresser’s interview “he needs to learn to get back up.”
I went to semis last night and thought it was super interesting. Yonger was not out on the mat before the session warming up. All the rest of the guys were. Dresser also never came out into the floor for the entire session until Yonger’s match.
I made a comment if Dresser was out searching for Yonger similar to the famous Gable story when Barry Davis went AWOL.
It might not have been that epic, but I think Dresser was trying to get Yonger reeled back in to even wrestle.
