A few things I'll add and I agree with some of your sentiment. First, DC is a legacy recruit/family etc. Second, he's a special kid off the mat. Probably better than he is on the mat. The programs that have the coaches/facilities/etc are also the ones offering the money. These kids aren't leaving Penn State to go to Little Rock because of cash. NIL in wrestling is going to separate the top 5-7 schools even further. I think what @Tigerguy_ is trying to get across is that we (ISU) want to make sure we're in that wheelhouse. Lastly and I have no inside information, but I'm guessing DC didn't get a $300k offer and we countered with $20k.But doesn't that prove the point the DC stayed at ISU for the coaching and facilities? Is ISU offering him $300k??? Ultimately, I FEEL (once again an assumption), a wrestler is more than likely to stay or go to a school that has some of the best coaches and facilities that are offered. Ofcourse at times money will trump all, however I would like to know what % that does. Sorry I like stats. I feel as if team sports may be more affected by $$$ as players on those TEAMS don't feel as tied to the coach. Where as wrestling they are more in it to better their craft. If on a team, one person makes a mistake it may not cause any issues where individual sports like wrestling, golf, etc you see the mistake that was made. Ultimately, if a golfer wanting to go to the next level is given $300k to go and play for Gardner Webb or go and play for Tiger Woods I would think most golfers would take the Tiger Woods route more often than not.
I may be naive, however if I wanted to pursue an opportunity at the Olympic level I am going to wrestle for those coaches that have "been there, done that". I knew as a wrestler my team wasn't going to beat my opponent I was.

I like our chances at 141 in a rematch. Ech is going to keep getting better the more he wrestles, and he will (hopefully) continue to get more comfortable making weight at 141We should win at 125 (who knows here), 133, 149, 157, 165, 285.
141, 174, toss ups
197 unlikely
184 no chance
I agree. I will say Happel has gotten so much better since he first arrived in Cedar Falls.I like our chances at 141 in a rematch. Ech is going to keep getting better the more he wrestles, and he will (hopefully) continue to get more comfortable making weight at 141
The Land injury and Realbuto taking an Olympic redshirt just killed UNI from a dual perspective.I know UNI always wrestles ISU tough but it would be slightly disappointing not to lay one on them this year.
Hasn't Land struggled to live up to expectations ?The Land injury and Realbuto taking an Olympic redshirt just killed UNI from a dual perspective.
A bit. Apparently there was some real homesickness last year and he struggled with adjusting to college life in general. They're still high on him going forward.Hasn't Land struggled to live up to expectations ?
I was gonna say this too. Almost feel more comfortable in that match over the one at 25. The trajectory AE is on is going to be so fun to watch.I like our chances at 141 in a rematch. Ech is going to keep getting better the more he wrestles, and he will (hopefully) continue to get more comfortable making weight at 141
What Cornell did was bush league... especially after dominating Little Rock. You can't tell me that many of their wrestlers got hurt wrestling Little Rock.Thinking about all the ducking crap from the Cornell dual, the individual ranking/seeding piece has been talked about plenty, but I think another big aspect that perpetuates the duck problem is that duals ultimately don't mean anything by the end of the season.
Yes, there are dual rankings, and it's fun to be at the top of them, but there's no prize beyond the point of pride at the end of the season.
Make duals mean something.
It's certainly not a new argument or discussion, and I know the wrestling community feels the need for duals to matter more, but I bet Cornell would have trotted out all their horses on Monday if it meant protecting or improving a team ranking that truly meant something.
I had to laugh at this.
Just Willie posting a screenshotWas that Willie Saylor that sent that to Mike Grey or just Willie posting it?
Maybe the operators of C&G should get that cleaned up. I'm sure @brentblum would be happy to help them through that. He is a loyal son forever true, afterall.I hadn't thought about until just now, but We Will is an approved charity on Benevity, which some companies use for donation matching. Last I checked (just a few weeks ago) C&G is not. So that may be a motivation to "funnel" money through WW.
