My 5
1. “Sympathy for the Devil” … textbook aural definition of The Stones.
2. “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”
3. “Waiting on a Friend”
4. “She’s a Rainbow” (most underrated song in RS discography)
5. “Loving Cup”

Under-appreciated
“The Last Time”
“Happy” (Lead vocal: Keef!) (See also: “Little T&A”)
“Hang Fire” (I MUST include link to the cheesy promo video)
“It’s All Over Now”

Honorable Mention: “Honky Tonk Women,” “Tumbling Dice,” “Gimme Shelter.”

I started to look through my media player and soon realized this was an impossible task. Great thread Angie but now my brain hurts. Here are some of my favorites I don't think I've seen yet.

You got the Silver - Let It Bleed (LOVE the slide guitar)
Factory Girl - Beggars Banquet
She Smiled Sweetly - Between the Buttons
Sweet Black Angel - Exile On Main St
Some Girls - Some Girls

Also Bobby Keys for the win on the sax in Sweet Virginia.

I didn't even look very far to get these, I totally went off of the top of my head. Your commitment is impressive - and GREAT choices.

This doesn't answer your question, but Side 2 of Tattoo You is maybe my favorite side of an album of all time. Starting on the song Worried About You. Side 1 is meh.

1. Gimme Shelter
2. Heaven - so good
3. Not Fade Away
4. Get Off of My Cloud
5. Street Fighting Man

Heartbreaker (Far and away my fave Stones tune)
You Can't Always Get What You Want
Gimme Shelter
Satisfaction
Tumbling Dice

I recently watched a documentary (it was excellent) called The Seven Five about some unbelievably corrupt Brooklyn cops back in the seventies. "Heartbreaker" ran during the clsoing credits, and it could not have been more perfect. I would highly recommend this film to any of you film buffs or true crime mavens. Good stuff!

Thread delivers. Flashing back to listening to Satisfaction on my little portable 8 or 10 transistor National Panasonic radio. Stealthily listening after lights out to KAAY with radio under my pillow.

:D

Damn, Boxster. You just opened a whole locker full of memories - KAAY ruled in the seventies, along with John "Records" Landeker on WLS in Chicago. And then of course you had Beaker Street with Clyde Clifford, and after that Beaker Theater. They'd play some of that old radio stuff like Arch Oboler and Lights Out, and scare the crap out of young, impressionable junior high kids like me.

I'm a big fan of Friday OT threads, but lately there have been too many music, nostalgia music, or music in movies topics. Let's start spicing it up.

I promise I'll mix it up next week.
