Good on the Yankees for making it happen but sheesh that contract is going to age like milk.

Money theoretically should be endless for that org but they'll still have $100M+ committed to Cole/Stanton/Judge when those players are 37, 38 and 36 respectively.
First team with three $300m+ contracts on the books.

Tatis moving to outfield or traded?

Insiders say he will move to RF, Soto to LF.

Kim, an elite defensive SS, to 2B.

Cronenworth, an All-Star 2B, to 1B.

All of that being said, based on how **** went down with Tatis last year, wouldn’t be shocked if he got moved

Tatis would likely move to CF. As a fan of the game, I hope he's been able to repair the relationship there in San Diego because I'd love to see how that team performs with Machado/Tatis/Soto/Bogaerts all together.

I’m a Boston fan, and while Chaim Bloom hasn’t been very good so far, I am more than okay with not giving Xander that contract. 11 years for a 30 year old SS?! His best years are either behind him or coming to an end fairly soon. Smart not to do it.

Padres have almost a billion dollars invested i 3 players - machado, tatis, and now bogaerts.

If that were the dodgers everyone would be yelling and screaming how that isnt fair.

I don't know about fair, but it's stupid and unless they win a couple WS likely regrettable.

Got turned down by Judge and Turner and they had to spend the money somehow. Not a fan of the move for the Padres but hey, spend your money how you want.
It’s been the plan for awhile to move Tatis to the outfield. This is an improvement over Kim offensively, Kim moves to second and Cronenworth to first since they can’t seem to find a decent first baseman in free agency. Could have played things differently but the Padres seem to be in “find the best player and make it work” mode rather than fill your positional need. As a padres fan I’m fine with it.

Machado has an out after next year and Soto in 2024. They are actually stacking these up pretty nicely. If they leave then it frees up a ton of money, if not you have quite a big four for the next few years and then a good starting point after that.

Not sure who this poster is but the user name is damn funny. Apparently they have been early on a few padres moves recently.
