I know it's misogynist. I know it's anachronistic. I don't care, I still like James Bond. I think that trailer looks great and I'll be going to that one for sure.

That's cool man. Nothing wrong with liking James Bond. Personally, I was kind of in to him as a kid, but have since moved on for whatever reason.

I'll be the first to admit I'm not a huge Scorcese guy. I know this is blasphemous but I actively think Casino sucks and I don't get the mass appeal of Goodfellas.

The Irishman is fine. I ended up finishing it as I came in to work late today. It 100% would not be getting the attention it's getting if it didn't have all of these older guys in it as their last go 'round.

I have to admit I just listened to a podcast where the people were just going on and on about how Scorcese is a master and people complaining about the length are just uncultured rubes and it just drives me crazy. "YOU CAN'T QUESTION SCORCESE! THE MOVIE IS THE RIGHT LENGTH TO TELL HIS STORY! HE'S A MASTER!" Well guess what, Silence was too dang long. The Wolf of Wall Street was too dang long. Casino was too dang long. I can like the guy's movies and think they are too long. He's the drama equivalent of Judd Apatow. I like Apatow movies too but they are all too long.

Scorcese is hit and miss with me. I either really love it or think it's awful. Wolf of Wall Street and Gangs of New York and Silence were just not for me. But others like Shutter Island and The Departed and Cape Fear I love.

Good point. I liked Gangs and the Departed. Again, chop 20 minutes out of both for me though.

In an era where almost every stunt is CGI, I really, really like the practical effects of Bond. the trailer sequence of him jumping with the rope for example, great stuff. I was basically done with the franchise until they brought Craig back. Plus, this script was doctored by Phoebe Waller-Bridge so it probably won't be as misogynistic. Could be wrong for sure.

New Ghostbusters movie will be called Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Movie premise according to director Jason Reitman (who's dad, Ivan directed the 1984 Ghostbusters):

“As the family arrives at an old farm, they begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters,” Reitman said. “Trevor and Phoebe are about to find out who their grandfather was and whether they’re ready to pick up the proton pack themselves.”

I don't know if this will be any good, but it looks waaay better than that last reboot. If they lean towards a Stranger Things vibe versus attempting to go slapstick, this could be done very well.

New Ghostbusters:Afterlife trailer

This looks awesome. UNLIKE THE LAST ONE, I think they finally have the tone of the movie right, which was my biggest gripe with that reboot. Just because the original movies had 3 comedians in the lead didn't mean that they were slapstick comedies. In fact, they were adventure/action/thriller movies with some great subtle comedy throughout. They WERE NOT straight comedies. On the flip side, the reboot was a complete light-hearted slapstick comedy movie which nobody wanted Ghostbusters to turn into, then they wondered why everybody hated the movie. It seemed they eventually chalked up why everyone hated it was simply due to the public not accepting 3 females in the leads, which was true for a minority of people, but completely the wrong lesson to be learned. At least it seems as of now they eventually learned the right lesson from that failure, which I didn't think they did. Casting Paul Rudd in this movie was a spectacular choice. It seems as of right now, the whole premise of the movie too seems like a unique way to bring the series back. I'm still not completely sold yet, but they at least have me pretty intrigued.

Watched Marriage Story last night. I don't mean to be callous but I have basically zero experience with divorce. I think if you did, either as the kid or in your own relationship, I can see how this movie would be affecting. However, I was just kind of glad for it to be over.

Piece of Information I had never heard before: Dan Akroyd initially had the idea for GhostBusters because of his parents. His father would perform rituals w/ the help of a medium and every Sunday they had families coming over to his house to speak to their dead relatives. This is where is fascination with spirits and afterlife came from.

Also, he said in a recent interview he thought the newest Ghostbusters (all female cast one) was on par with the original. fwiw

One of the most over-hyped movies I have seen in a long time.

Hmmm..... interesting to hear some mixed thoughts on many of these awards contenders. I guess what's new right? There always seems to be a slew of over-hyped awards contenders when you've got ridiculously good movies who pretty much everyone adores like Ford v Ferrari barely sniffing a thing outside Best actor.

I mean they are good and better than most movies. It's just a taste thing for me honestly, similar to your take on The Boys. I have a hard time getting into movies where I don't find the main characters to be likable at all. That puts me at odds with a lot of the award show movies.

While the other theaters were all packed with people for Star Wars TROS, we had the entire theater to ourselves while finally watching Ford V Ferrari.

That was definitely worth seeing on the big screen. Bale was really really good.

Saw the second Jumanji. It was predictable with the story and the humor, but it was entertaining for what it was.

Unfortunately, the movie ended with a predictable ending that essentially promised another installment. I'm not seeing how that decision ends up being a good one.

Really interested in 1917 for realism in ww1. But they act like losing 1600 troops would be some big deal and... @CycloneErik
