After the initial shock, it doesn't matter where he went. Imo once we went all-in it was going to be a punch to the stomach unless he picked us.

We might do a little better at recruiting if we had a five-star hotel full of whores and liquor at the Ames airport.

Holiday Inn DOES have that new waffle bar. Should have sealed the deal. UNLESS he doesn't like waffles as much as hookers? Hard to read the tea leaves of a 21 year old kid.

Oh calm the hell down. Saying that someone that commits to UNLV doesn't care if he is on a winning team, isn't exactly wrong. UNLV hasn't won in years. So obviously, he likes something other than winning.

What about building a winner? Maybe that was the pitch. The kid did nothing to anyone in our fanbase. He took his time making what is to date the biggest decision of his life. NOBODY on this board can challenge his decision.

But really looking forward to more an more insinuations that the kid and his family are dirty and have no character simply for NOT choosing ISU.

Get over yourself, as you would say.

I'll admit I've on my trips to Vegas, I've only been around the strip and the touristy stuff but what else is there to do? Do locals go to the Casinos? Are there any college bars on Fremont St? It's not like Vegas has exclusives on hookers and blow, you can find those everywhere (I've heard)

Maybe he clicked with the coaching staff more? Maybe he had a better relationship with the players? Maybe he thought he could be THE man rather then come here with a brand new PG playing his first high level games, with what appears to be a talented front court already on roster? Maybe he doesn't like of colors. Maybe the faith-based family program isn't what he's looking for?

You'll kill yourself trying to rationalize a decision by a young man you have NOTHING in common with.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is probably a shady program. Too many good players have bypassed too many good schools to go play for a ****** team for no reason. I don't think anyone is in particular bashing the player, but there's no reason why we can't bash UNLV.

You are exactly the type of fan that drives me crazy (much as I must drive you crazy!)....any reasonable discussion about another program and how it seems a bit odd that they consistently get top high school players and consistently suck at basketball and how that might not be real legit leads to you getting on your high horse and telling us how great UNLV is and how honorable that whole program is.

AGAIN.....he's not demonizing the kid. He's wondering why good players continue to go to a school where they don't win. It's an honest question and you acting like it isn't is kind of odd.

But maybe if he had turned down Gonzaga to go to UNLV, you might wonder the same thing?

He's right. We look like whiny little *******.

Honestly nothing different than every other fanbase does. I would have loved him in the cardinal and gold but I respect his decision (not that I have any say either way). I just have a hard time with the name calling and character assassination by some. It's unfair to our fanbase, and its REALLY unfair to the student athlete.

Recruiting isn't just about winning and losing. If recruits only picked schools based on records, then Iowa St would have lost out on many previous recruits.

I don't know their new coach, maybe he had one hell of a selling point to McCoy, Juiston, and Hardy. Maybe he's just one hell of a recruiter/salesman, and convinced them that, if they all came, they would be a top 25 team and in the tournament.

Obviously that's an up hill battle, but you can't say they won't have the talent. Just today, UNLV jumped Iowa St in recruiting rankings, and probably in overall talent, at least on paper.

The fight for playing time at UNLV is why this surprised me most. He grew up in New Jersey, right? And has spent two years in Hutchison, KS. I can see why Vegas might feel like a better fit to him. Not everyone can appreciate the value of Focustown, USA.

Because you demonstrate ZERO ability to think about his situation from anything other than your ISU-centric point of view. If it wasn't UNLV, it would be the hawks, or Kansas, or Texas and the same thread would be the kid doesn't know what he's missing and he only turned us down because of boosters. Lather rinse and repeat.

Sometimes when all you can do is point fingers at others, maybe it's your perspective that needs some perspective.

Is UNLV dirty? Don't know - don't care as it doesn't impact ISU. We'll field a young but talented team next year and those are the one I'm most concerned with.

Actually, it does affect Iowa State. And your inability to see that is just silly.

It's certainly not the end of the world, who gives a **** in the long run about a juco player. But it would be nice to know why through 2 coaching staffs and zero success, UNLV is getting top talent. It must be that 1991 final four when the player wasn't even alive!

I hate the Zags (Brown is here right now BTW) but they offer something completely unique that can't be duplicated at ISU. Same with UNLV. Same with ISU. When you find the right recruits that are looking for an ISU unique situation than its a great fit. SJ was looking for something we couldn't offer and thank GOD CSP (I'm assuming here) is not willing to change what we can offer simply to get his services. He built the relationship and laid everything out that we could offer.

CSP has a winner and I trust him to get his share of great fits through the years. Not worried about the kids we don't get regardless of why we don't get them.

Vs. WHAT about our long and storied basketball history? I forget, how many important banners hang from our rafters? Hopefully you understand that some people have different criteria in decision-making? And maybe you understand that not choosing ISU isn't the same as embracing satan? Unless he went to Kentucky but that's another thread.

I wonder if we'll get in on another CUSA post-grad transfer in Jeremy Combs. 6'7" guy with solid, efficient numbers.

Of course, McIntosh would be a pipe dream

How many games was JS going to win? You tell me exactly how many wins with him and exactly how many wins with the TBD players still being recruits and I'll furrow my brow and lament our woes.

Cheese and rice some think the sports world revolves around Hilton.
