Jeez, apparently our fanbase is really living rent free in the heads of angry KU fans. Haha! (But they don't care about ISU they say? ... LOL, yeah right!)
*I also love how they forget all about the game in Lawrence this year and the obvious goaltend miss call that clearly stole the game late from ISU. Funny, I was in attendance and the BOO birds were strong from THEM that entire game.

Such disrespect from them. The feeling is mutual, we despise them too. They DON'T want to see our team in the Elite 8.

But, they did get one consensus correct about the regional final/weekend, we're not going to root for them.

Personally, I am going to worry about Miami, because they are the team standing in the way of our guys.

Long two days left. Story time! Please share your own

CW often says, "we aren't Iowa State fans because it's easy". Which is true in the sense that he means it.

Well guess what, folks? This week has been very easy. A terrible week to be a Hok. A perfect week to be a Cyclone. I'm hoping all of our arms aren't about to fall off from patting ourselves on the back, and rightfully so this time! I've loved every minute of it, and of course I want more.

Story time:
The wife wanted to get away the weekend of the K State game, so we went to the Mall of America. Yes, I watched the game on my phone and timed my turn to sit with the stroller expertly. My wife is not a Cyclone (we all have our faults). She is lukewarm on sports in general, but that is not the point.

My wife was blown away by how many people came up to me in my ISU gear and said Go Cyclones! Go State! Some struck up a conversation, others just gave a head nod of acknowledgment. A few of them literally went out of their way and basically chased me down to acknowledge our mutual love of ISU and the Cyclones. It was too many to count on a busy day in Minnesota.

Much like CW, I'm not proud to say I grew up mostly a Hok. My allegiances were split, and sadly I basically just followed which ever team was doing well. Ive been to Kinnick and CHA plenty of times, and my friends in HS were basically all Hoks. It is what it is.

This all changed when I went to school in Ames. People roll their eyes when we tell them our best asset is our people. Every once in a while people get a glimpse into what we mean, and my wife did that day. it had an impact on her. We have an impact on people. We are some of the good ones. Don't ever forget that or apologize for it.

I just wanted to say I love you guys and ladies that post on here. My life is better for sharing these experiences with you, and this week has been about as good as it gets. I don't take this board, this school, this fanbase for granted. We are blessed.

Kyle Green scouts Miami

From yesterday's Sports Fanatics.

Fires, splash!

In case anyone wants to relive one of the coolest moments I've seen an ISU basketball player and players have in some years.

The whole thing. The intensity, the ball working around, the dribble to set it up, Brockington celebrating for his boy, the shot of the fans--I think family section-is that IZB's dad? I think I saw him out in the concourse.

About the :21 mark.

On That Note: Stage & Screen

Welcome back to “On That Note,” CF’s weekly music series, hosted by @MeanDean, @CycloneRulzzz and cyclones500.

Two major awards shows are coming the next two weekends (Oscars and Grammys). To connect the dots, we're exploring songs with titles or lyrics that reference performance elements for either of the entertainment forms: Including show, concert, gig and stage/on-stage (for music reference) or movie, film, flick, cinema and theater (in the “movie house” context).

DOES NOT QUALIFY: Group names, album titles or specific references to a movie title by itself. Finally, any word has to be in context of the theme (so, for example: “Show” used as a general verb IS NOT ACCEPTED).
A couple to get us going.

South Carolina

My women's basketball viewership is pretty well limited to Iowa St games, for those that have watched South Carolina play what kind of team are they? I'm assuming they are an athletic and physically dominating team like a Texas or Baylor based on knowing Boston is an elite post and their biggest strength is their defense.

Looking into the Future...

Don't worry...I'm enjoying the present immensely. But a glance into the future of the WBB program is full of extreme potential as the current sophomore class progresses.

22-23
If Ashley chooses to take her COVID year, it is potentially the entire team (minus Frederick) returning with more experience. I would expect noticeable improvements in Diew, Jordao, and Zingaro. Maggie would hopefully be healthy all year long and we'd have additional guard depth with Fritz and Dawkins. It would provide the option to full court press and still allow fresh legs at the end for our starting guards. This is likely a top 5 team. Even without Ashley returning, this will be a great team.

23-24
Maggie and Morgan could be COVID year super seniors. Assuming Izzy and Maggie Vick develop, we could have 3 capable upper Jr/Sr inside players and 2 top-50 recruit freshmen (Brown and Bristow) to join them. With our guards, this team will be hard to beat. By this time, Lexi and Emily will be 4th year players and able to replace the loss of Ashley's points.

24-25 - this is the year with the most potential (but lots of things would have to fall into place)
Imagine Lexi, Emily, Aubrey, and Diew as 5th year super seniors. Add 4 more capable Sophomore/Junior guards in Fritz, Dawkins, Jackson, and Kelsey Joens. It would be hard to find playing time for all of these outside players.
Our inside game would feature two seniors and two athletic sophomores. I think that by the time Izzy Zingaro is a senior, she will have developed into our best true post player since Anna Prins (or dare I say even since Angie Welle?). Izzy is a rebounding machine and we have seen flashes of her offensive skills.

Creighton WBB - Compare & Discuss

First, in a completely meaningless fact, ISU is 7-0 all-time against Creighton WBB, with the last meeting in November, 2008 (ISU 63 - Creighton 59). I wonder why we don't regularly play them, considering the proximity and relative success of both programs?

ISU and Creighton WBB had five common opponents this season - ISU 5-0 & Creighton 4-1:

Omaha Ames - ISU 65-38
Omaha / Creighton - Creighton 71-51

SDSU Ames - ISU 75-56
Omaha - Creighton 67-55

Drake @ Des Moines - ISU 98-76
@ Des Moines - Drake 82-79

UNI Ames - ISU 70-69
Omaha - Creighton 79-72

Iowa Ames - ISU 77-70
Iowa City - Creighton 64-62

In the final NET Rankings (March 13), ISU was 9th (26-6) and Creighton 32nd (20-9).

ISU's six regular season (and conf. tournament) losses were to LSU, Baylor x2 and Texas x3 - all losses to NCAA tournament qualifiers;

Creighton's nine regular season (and conf. tournament) losses were @ Drake, @ Nebraska, USD, @ UCONN, @ Villanova, UCONN, @ Marquette, DePaul & Seton Hall (neutral court) - six losses to NCAA tournament qualifiers and three losses to NIT tournament invitees;

My conclusion: This shapes up to be a great game, with a pair of guard-oriented offenses getting after each other! Let's go State!
