Well maybe he should be ashamed for calling himself a fan and worry about his situation before considering himself a fan.

Exactly what JP said in the email.

Yeah.. Not donating hurts every program. But there are alot of people out there that are finished with mens basketball and won't renew or donate. So it hurts everyone.....

So not getting rid of a lameduck coach is only hurting the program. Pollard then hurts us more by flying off the handle like some thin skinned high schooler that just had his gf stolen from him.

Or people who can't afford to donate money and/or buy tickets. Doesn't mean they aren't fans though. There's other ways to contribute to an organization besides directly giving them money.

On top of this purchasing licensed apparel and supporting advertisers of cyclone event isn't considered donating to the college? Every time you buy a shirt with the ISU logo, a set of ISU golf balls, or whatever you contribute to the college.

Bellz gets it. Seems pretty cut and dry to me. JP stepped out of line by calling out a member of the fanbase. JP's job is to take it, grin and nod. So many of you are standing up and applauding this behavior from your AD. I can promise you that in the JP household tonight he's not liking the pub his push of the send button got him...

Honestly, you have no place in this conversation at all. Cyclone fans couldn't give two squirts of **** for what you think. Maybe Pollard shouldn't have sent that email, but a REAL Cyclone fan wouldn't go sending it to KXNO like a media *****. A real Cyclone fan would understand that this is a financial issue even if they want GMac gone (like I do). And a real Cyclone fan would be in the books for buying SOMETHING or donating SOMETHING.

like i said-quit donating if you feel that strongly about it. i'm obviously not going to change your mind. please stop donating-i would love to see isu football go down the tubes as well. and the wrestling team to go the way of our baseball program. and our volleyball team to go back to not mattering to anyone other than the parents. etc.

in the end we have 2 choices-
1-support isu
2-don't support isu

i'm choosing 1-not blindly, but that's what i'm choosing.

Maybe we should get an AD that thinks before responding like an arrogant punk??? I'm sure Gene Smith could give him some pointers.

You mean like running the AD into the red and forcing the cancellation of baseball?

Where does Pollard's email say that Rainman should be ashamed to call himself a fan? And where does Pollard say that he should worry about his own situation before considering himself a fan? Pollard tells him to worry about himself before worrying about what Orr, Grayer, and Hornacek would think.

you should start a campaign to find one if you really feel that way instead of spouting off on a message board about it. maybe you should send the president of the university an email expressing your unhappiness with jp. i hope he sends you back something along the lines of:
"we appreciate your input. we will look into this. thanks for your suggestion."

So has ISU ever had a good AD then???

Gene Smith ran the program into the red... Even though BVD made the cut of it. Which we still blame him regardless.. And he did fire Eustachy. So he can't be on the top of the list.

Pollard fired Mac, Hired Chiz, fired Morgan, hired Mac, and so on and so on. So he can't be the best...

We just can't win...

Dude, That is sacrilege in Iowa State fandom. You never, never, EVER ask ISU fans to step up financially. They all feel that they have given everything the can at $50 and take it as an insult. I mean, a large contingent of our fans is still ******** because they were asked to give more money for the first time since 1977 for football seats...and we are surprised when our facilities/coaches/teams don't measure up??

Check again. It's a privately owned company. Not a public forum. Two different things.

Uh, now while I don't want to debate the childish "a hawk said, a cyclone said" ********...well, comparing a privately owned company to a "public forum"? They aren't related.

I'm not too sure what you really meant by this. Tons and tons of privately owned companies have public forums on their sites.

It's not like I just created a screen name just to stir up crap. I've been around for a while and I usually keep my nose out of things. I just feel passionate about this topic. Like I said, looks like I'm not the only one who thinks Jp was in the wrong. You guys going to put those Cy fans on ignore too?

Yes... Cause it would be more polite then this...

Dear Matt,

Thank you for your email. Several thoughts for your to ponder.

1. Yesterday I received over a hundred emails following our letter to ticket holders and donors. Interesting enough, of all the emails I received, the only negative one was from you. Glad to know that your feelings are not shared by the majority of other Cyclone fans.

2. Although I appreciate your passion and desire to write me, I only wish you had the same passion in helping be part of the solution by joining the Cyclone Club or being a season ticket holder. Our records indicate you have never made a donation, purchased season tickets or even purchased a single game ticket from our department. (his parents buy the tickets. I have 2 others that buy tickets through my name and help with donations, so know your facts first) Unfortunately, athletics is like politics - people have a lot of answers but never many solutions. (meaning money....)

3. For someone who claims to be a Cyclone fan for as long as you can remember, it it amusing to me that you never have supported the program that you so claim to love.(again Jamie didn't know his parents gets tickets, he goes to games and buys merchandise, something I wouldn't point out until I further knew the situation) Rather than spending time worrying about what Orr, Grayer, Hornacek, and others would think - I think you should be more worried about yourself. Your email is actually rather embarrassing given your lack of action.

Thanks again for your email. I do appreciate it. I also hope you give some thought to my question about joining the Cyclone Club or purchasing season tickets. You can't expect better results if all you are willing to do is sit on the sidelines and write an email to the Athletics Director. (meaning if you don't pony up... then you don't matter)

Go Cyclones!

I'll mark the insulting parts or untrue parts..... Just for you and LONO

Exactly. Either you're part of the solution or part of the problem. If you don't like the direction of the MBB program, give $100 to the CGC. Or buy single game FB tickets. Just like voting, if you aren't vested in the program (or you didn't vote), your opinion means next to nothing. JP probably shouldn't have sent that email since guys like Matt "Mountain out of Molehill" would blow it out of proportion, but his answer was right on.
