Maybe I read the wrong email, because I still don't see anything wrong with it. Or are we talking about Matt's spin of the email?

This line.....

I think you should be more worried about yourself. Your email is actually rather embarrassing given your lack of action.

Also.... Pollard claiming he recieved only 1 negative email... I'm willing to bet he gets atleast 1 negative email a day about anything and everything ISU related. Especially on a topic as big as this one.

Bellz gets it. Seems pretty cut and dry to me. JP stepped out of line by calling out a member of the fanbase. JP's job is to take it, grin and nod. So many of you are standing up and applauding this behavior from your AD. I can promise you that in the JP household tonight he's not liking the pub his push of the send button got him...

exactly. he asks the kid to help be a part of the solution by donating money.

OMG!!! what an *******!!! he asked a "cyclone fan" to step up to the plate and donate money!!! pitchforks and torches!!! RABBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
rabblerabble1251158120.jpg

So... I donate money... I don't like the direction of the program. I'm sure I'll get mostly the same response except that I should donate more.

So I'm a small part of the solution that pays for a crappy product.

Either I'm stupid for paying for a crappy product over and over again, or I'm just not big enough of the solution to have a voice and need to pay more...

Yep, pretty much and JP should know how to handle criticism to not write an email like that. If you don't like criticism, don't take a high profile job where you're in the public light.

(and I am not going to say the guy "stole" anything. I have many friends who aren't part of this board who say the same things).

out of curiosity, how would you have handled the criticism? told the kid thanks for the input? we will keep an eye on it? not replied at all?

i can see it now-i emailed him my complaint, and he didn't reply!! he must not care about the average fans voice!!!
or this-he blew me off with an automated email!! he doesn't even pay attention to what the little man says!!

you guys need to get your panties out of a bunch on this deal.

Maybe we should get an AD that doesn't respond or do anything, any chance BVD would come back.

you are stupid if you feel you are throwing money away. if that is the case i have an answer-stop doing it. i donate as well, and am far from happy about the situation, but i am not going to quit giving to the university and make matters worse. i will continue to give my small amount that i am comfortable with. you are jumping to conclusions about receiving the same response. send jp an email and see what he sends you back-don't just assume that he will take the same tone with you-you know the saying about what happens when you assume things.

Ever tired e-mailing a complaint to a company? You know what you get? A generic "Thanks for the concerns" e-mail. Sure, it makes the complainer upset, but it doesn't make the company look like an *** in the eyes of the public. Maybe JP should save a generic response e-mail in Word format for just such occasions.

Here's how I would have personally done it if I were in JP's position:

I would have probably said "Thanks for your input. Do you have any suggestions for how we can improve the program?" Then considering I would have responded nicely...I'd gauge how he responds back to me if he does.

1) Does he respond in the same manner as he originally wrote me or does he tone it down and be more courteous?

2) If he provides what I requested and since I have a lot of knowledge in the subject, I'd judge whether what he says might have weight or not regardless of whether he's provided money to the program or not.

3) If what he says on the return isn't anything great, I'd say "Thanks for the input and supporting Cyclone athletics. We will keep your suggestions in mind."

4) If what he says on the return is great and I think it has weight, I'll start a dialogue with him for his suggestions until no more can be said to further a conversation.

5) If he responds in a nasty manner, giving me **** again..I don't respond at all, I say a bunch of swear words out loud under my breath, and then I go to the gym for 90 minutes to work off steam. If he writes me any other letters, I don't even read them and I delete.

make the complainer upset, or make the company look like an *** to a rival team fan. i would love to see a poll on here asking what the cyclone nation thought of the response. if i'm wrong i'll gladly eat crow, but i would bet more people like it than not.

But if I don't donate... I'm not a fan...

Making matters worse by stop donating??? I'm donating and matters can't get anyworse. Greg has done nothing to warrent another year. Unless we are counting close losses as moral wins. Which makes us even bigger losers.

Callers on the radio show today said they have emailed Pollard in the past and he sent similar replies. It's not like this was the first time Pollard has done this. Hopefully all the attention it is getting this time will give him a chance to realize how bad he looks.

Exactly...... I wouldn't care if he had a form letter and added something small and personal. But not a smug and arrogant comment.

+1000. Take any major CEO.. they probably get a lot of ****, but you never see them writing nasty emails anymore back to people who personally complain to them (if the complainer can get that far).

if they did, the media would be over it so fast, their company would suffer a little from it because the CEO is the face and voice of the company. They have to watch everything they do.

A poll of the jihadic message board fanbase or a poll of regular Joe average Cy fans? I would be certain that there would be a 20-30 point swing between the two...

so you are going to stop donating to the ad because you are unhappy with the mbb team.

i'm sure the football team, wrestling team, wbb team, volleyball team, etc are thrilled by your decision.

and the not donating, not a fan thing is reading waaaaaaaaay too much into the email. my 6 year old nephew doesn't donate because he doesn't have a job. he aint a fan either according to jp:skeptical:

i don't even know why i'm participating in this thread. i tried to keep up with it a little today, and for the most part found it comical. and i would consider myself to be in the regular Joe average Cy fan group.

we will all just have to agree to disagree, because what you see as an uproarious response to a nasty email, i find to be fitting.

that's the good thing about message boards-everyone can have their own opinion. i appreciate your views, i just don't agree with them.

I like how you have a grand total of two posts since 2006, and think that we give a crap what you opinion is. I hope you will succeed at getting to four posts by the time we all die.

Lono, we do agree on a few things. Hawk fans that think we give a crap what they think can take a flyin leap!!

This is hilarious.

Well maybe he should be ashamed for calling himself a fan and worry about his situation before considering himself a fan.

Exactly what JP said in the email.

Yeah.. Not donating hurts every program. But there are alot of people out there that are finished with mens basketball and won't renew or donate. So it hurts everyone.....

So not getting rid of a lameduck coach is only hurting the program. Pollard then hurts us more by flying off the handle like some thin skinned high schooler that just had his gf stolen from him.
