How close are people who are using checks to going over their limit?

I check my account online if i am going to make a large purchase, but anything under 200 I am not close enough to going over to have to worry about being off 20 here or there.
I check it just to make sure nothing goofy is going on. I caught a fraud alarm before VISA did on my card (checked online during class last spring...got a call that afternoon from VISA) and got it sorted out before it really became a mess. I can generally tell you within $5-10 what should be in each of my accounts but I don't have a check register or anything...just the online crap from the bank.

That argument is moot. If you are so dumb you are unable to figure out how to read an analog watch, you won't be able to afford one later in life anyways. Therefore if you are in the afformentioned "*******" category, wasting the time on learning on how to use one is pointless, you are much better off learning more valuable lessons, like a red stove is hot and you really shouldn't stare directly into the sun.

Theory disproved.

Thats why I said clocks, not a watch. A clock is something on your wall, a watch is a fashion accessory. If you're dressed nice and you put on a watch, you shouldn't be putting on one with a digital face. There is a life lesson that should be taught.

I've got to disagree with your premise here. I also don't think I'd ever hang a clock with a digital readout on my wall. Digital clocks are for alarm clocks, and that's about it. A digital wall clock does not look classy - much like a digital wristwatch.

How is this not classy?

What happens when the apolalypse comes and wipes out our energy sources and you have left in your house is a wind up clock. Yeah, bet youll be sorry then. You kids and your hoola hoops.
I'm sure when there is no digital, those who do not know how to use an analog will just use the sun to tell what time it is...

I had huge monster digital clock hanging above my fireplace mantle. It shows time, date, indoor and outdoor temperature...time/date automatically set...could be read from far away...completely practical in every sense.

After I got married, my wife insisted that I take it down (with severe pressure from my sister-chicks always gang up). At least she let me put it by the TV.

I do have an analog wristwatch though...

If one can't figure out how to read an analog clock, I suspect that person won't be able to use the sun to tell time either.

That was the sarcasm I was going for, though I felt a jimlad didn't fit that form of sarcasm.

I see no need for #2 for the vast majority of people. 95% of cars (I'm guessing) come with an automatic transmission. I've made it through 34 years of life w/o having to drive one, and I plan on continuing this trend for the rest of my life. Why would I learn to do something that is utterly and completely useless to me?

you obviously have never driven a nice car. why the hell would i want an automatic audi, bmw, mercedes, etc.

Wow, this is one of the more moronic threads I've read on CF. I do appreciate the humor some threw in. Some of you are frankly....nuts. Don't take life so seriously. Who cares if you know how to do some things and I don't? I feel sorry for the kids you may end up having.

And yes, I can change I flat, drive a manual, balance a checkbook, read a book, wipe my ***, and many other things. I don't feel the need to start a thread about it.

Post in a thread about it is a whole different story though!

But apparently you felt the need to post in a thread about those things.
