But the fact is, the vast majority of fans wear and own Cardinal. And while Gold technically is a main color, we all know that Cardinal is THE primary color.

So go buy a gold Iowa State shirt, and wear it for the ONE FREEING GAME per year that ISU ask you too.

I'm personally in favor of tasing every fan who wears cardinal tonight...

Why do so many people clamor all football and basketball season long for uniforms in our non-primary color then?

No doubt that fans have 95% of Cardinal gear but you said we are changing our colors for another team. We certainly are not as Gold is a color and we are not changing anything.

90% eh?

You must shop different places then I do. Without really thinking about it my limited cyclone wardrobe is only about 25% red or cardinal. I tend to see lots of yellow gold grey etc available.

Wear whatever the heck you want but prepare to be thought a malcontent or at least ill informed.

Amazing how some people will find something to complain about in any situation. Just put on a gold shirt and shut up.

It comes off as asking people not to wear cardinal because kansas has red as one of their colors.

Exactly... and especially when they do it against Nebraska. I have no problem buying a Gold shirt, but I'd rather them do it on a night when we play Texas, or some other team that shares no color with us, so it doesn't look like some pathetic attempt to wear a different color than the other team.

You can say it is a primary color, but it is most definitely a secondary one. The marketplace offerings and what fans wear shows that.

Most schools, when they do a 'color-out' use their primary color, because they know their fans will have that color.

Iowa pulled off black\gold since there is much more balance in the colors. You see a lot of gold and a lot of black hawk gear out there. Not so much with ISU. Almost all the stuff you see people wearing is cardinal.

You do know that they have done both Cardinal Rules and Gold Rules in both football and basketball for the past 3-4 years right? Its not like this is the first time we have ever tried doing it.

It's not just some people it's people that are Cyclone fans. I didn't hear anyone complain over at Iowa when they are told to wear all black or all yellow for their football games...not to mention they took it one step farther and did the whole alternating sections thing. They embrace it they look forward to it, why? BECAUSE IT LOOKS FREAKING AMAZING!!!

But no where Cyclone fans why should our leaders tell us what to do and wear to look cool and have a cool effect on the game and atmosphere. They are stepping way out of their bounds to tell us what to wear...

No, everyone knows that blue is Kansas PRIMARY color while red is just a secondary :spinny:

I guess if you look hard enough to find a reason to complain about something....you will find it.

If it had nothing to do with Kansas, we'd do a cardinal-out since thats what 99% of our fans have, which is cardinal. That would do a much better job of looking good on national tv.

Hell, look at our merchandise list. 90% is either cardinal or cardinal on white\gray. You see this anytime you look at our fans in a crowd too. If you want to do a 'color-out' you dont use a secondary color, you use your primary color.

Please - when was the last time ISU fans were able to pull off the "Cardinal Rules" properly? The incessant whining then usually becomes "Why the hell should I have to wear red to the game? They're not the boss of me! I'm going to wear white, gray, or, ironically, gold instead!"

I sometimes shake my head in wonder with this fan base. I can somewhat understand not wanting to wear gold for a Golden Rules game at JTS in the middle of November when it's 20 degrees out because there aren't a lot of quality gold ISU winter coats or heavy sweatshirts out there and they don't want to freeze their arses off in a gold t-shirt, but people are still going to whine about it when it's in Hilton Coliseum on a night when Johnny Orr is being honored and it's a nationally-televised game against one of our most hated rivals and there are plenty of cheap gold t-shirts that can be bought at your choice of stores in either Ames or Des Moines - and all some fans can do is ***** about how they're not going to do it because they don't like being told what to do and being the ***hole rebel stokes their self-importance?

I seriously don't get our fan base sometimes...

IIRC, A&M does a Maroon Out in Football, but basketball is always a White Out. Obviously white is not their primary color.
