Please tell me if I'm wrong here - if it turns out to be the ISU-Texas game that goes to the Longhorn Network that would mean I'd have to give money to Texas to watch it live??? **** that.

The ISU/Texas game is in Ames, therefore ISU makes the call. Let alone the obvious fact that all of their network essentials would be located in Austin, which would be a massive pain in the ***/expense to attempt to bring up to Ames and setup.

Not sure why anyone is up in arms about this, it's a single game for one year, who cares. With Texas televising this one game, FOX gets to add another B12 national broadcast to it's lineup as well. So yeah, Kansas fans may not get to see Texas shitstomp the Jayhawks in Austin this year, but two other teams get an opportunity to play in a nationally broadcasted game that they otherwise wouldn't have gotten.

People are just ****** because it's Texas and they feel the need to be angry about something.

I agree. If Texas makes any move beneficial to themselves, everyone is going to panic.

I don't know, Bevo network beats no TV, which we've seen plenty of times in the lasat few years. Everything changes for the better in 2012.

This is brilliant and deserves a rep boost, but I can't do it, since you said something else recently.

We aren't going to lose anything on this, but we'll win in the deal. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Chances are they'll get a game in order to get the Longhorn Network more subscribers. A Texas-ISU game doesn't attract many new subscribers. To that end, depending on how we start the season, that game very easily could land on ABC, especially if we knock off Iowa.

Chances are it'll either be the Kansas game for Texas, or one against a team from Oklahoma or Texas. That's where LHN wants subscribers, they know that the Iowa State game isn't gonna deliver much.

There's two games that are likely candidates to be the second game to be placed on LHN

10/29 vs Kansas
11/5 vs Texas Tech

We play Tech on the 29th and we play Kansas on the 5th. The LHN getting another game means we're likely going to see one of our games against two of the worst teams in the Big 12 get bumped up in the TV pecking order, likely from FCS to FSN. This isn't a bad thing and is just another example of how Texas wanting more actually works out to help us in the long run.

It won't be the ISU game, as we're at home. Conventional wisdom holds that it would be Baylor or Texas Tech. That's what I'd go with, if I were them and trying to get the network to go. I'd like them just happy enough with it to keep them around the Big XII, but not so happy that they go independent like BYU and Notre Dame. Need to keep that BCS money floating to ISU's AD for facility improvements for a long while....

i cant believe some of you are trying to justify this! wow.

i follow ISU as a second team considering i went to school there, so i hate to see this happen.

Al_4_state, you might as well just bend over and take it, because that is what you are doing without complaint.

essentially what is happening here is that UT is going to make more money off of other fans that have to buy the network to watch one game and that money could be spent on that fans own team! and tv is tv sure but not everywhere is going to have access to the longhorn network.

ISU fans are the ONLY fans in the big12 that seem to be ok with this happening other that UT of course. there is a reason that the other 8 teams arent too happy about it. i mean give me a break, i understand that ISU has not had historically great teams but that doesnt mean they need to just bend over.

I get around
I guess I'll change all of my thoughts because a Husker fan with their balanced view of Texas tells me that nobody else in the conference that they are leaving supports this sort of thing.
:biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh: Good one! I was going to tell him to go away. His No. 1 team flunked out of the Big 12. But your comment was better so I'll let it go at that.

Thanks. It's good to see the trailer park champions move on to the academic excellence of the Big Ten.

Oh, wait, the other schools are really good. Well, somebody has to be at the bottom.

Husker fan or not, this post deserves some recognition! I am unsure why it took a Nebby fan or this long through the thread for someone to say things along these lines.

+100 to you sir!

So one game for one year means all of this huh? I suppose I cannot expect a Husher fan (or Hawkeye fan for that matter) to actually have knowledge of what is going on here, especially with how it pertains to ISU, but it has been stated in the thread already. This won't be a big game, likely a 2nd tier game, it won't be ISU, and it won't happen after this year. My guess is also that they will have to "buy" the game as rights belong to the conference. What most of the other teams don't understand outside of those points is that without Texas, this conference is gone and in all likelihood we are much worse off (That includes everyone outside of OK, aTm, and Texas).

Because the ones in this thread have actually read what's going on and aren't sensationalizing the whole thing.

Also, this game will actually give us more exposure by putting a game on a more premier slot and channel than it would have otherwise been.

Bend over to what exactly? So one conference game not including ISU will be shown on the LHN and in turn ISU has a much better chance of getting a better television slot for that weekend in return. What would ISU fans possibly have to be ****** off about?

I understand the Nebraska faithful will always have a blood feud with Texas due to the fact that they wrecked Nebraska at their own game and sent them running, but please, keep your psychotic, misplaced views to yourselves.

Seriously, you all sound like recently dumped, extremely bitter ex-girlfriends.

The thing is, that the Longhorn Network HAS to succeed if the other Big 12 teams want to see an increase in revenue. ESPN has invested too much $ to see this network fail and the stability of the conference is dependent on Texas generating as much TV revenue as possible.

I'm not for OU or A&M playing on the Longhorn Network, but universities such as ISU, Kansas, and Kansas State playing on the Longhorn Network would mean those universities saving money with Texas footing the bill to broadcast those games, and ESPN gets the immediate credibility they are looking for with their investment.

If schools like OU and A&M want to eventually have their own networks with ESPN/ABC/FOX/Whoever, then they need the Longhorn Network to succeed.
