Anyone notice Iowa's going after another one of our commits?

It's a little bit different scenario. The reason Iowa offered Iowa State commits is because they didn't know if they were good enough yet, so they waited to see some film/higher rated recruits and how that plays out.

With other teams offering Iowa recruits, it is simply because Iowa just offered them. I have seen several mentions in articles (from Lemming and other analysts) that once Iowa offers, other schools take notice and decide to offer too.

This is delusional, but I don't doubt for a second that you actually believe it.

with Ferentz losing record against ISU, perhaps he should start looking more at our recruits.

Add in the gohawks and I would assume so....probably explains the lack of intelligence

Yes WSR is Waverly Shell Rock and theyre the go hawks. The whole school copies everything Iowa. You can tell by the Go-Hawks, school colors and football unis. Just like UofI most of them come off as arrogant douchers. I've heard of many interesting encounters with them. It's always interesting when we play them in bball football and wrestling. We were down by 40+ to them this year and they decided to fake a pat and go for two. They also did an onside kick on the very next kickoff. I cannot stand them one bit.

To be honest...it sounds really arrogant, but I don't think wrsgohawks is really that far from the truth...

My numbers may be off, but the Iowa staff took a couple of low-rated recruiting classes and immediately pulled about 5 NFL players out of them. I don't think that Iowa offers directly lead to offers from other teams, but I think that they will indirectly lead to offers from other teams. I also think their Blevins offer was mostly just a matter of them being patient rather reacting to our offer.

Do uofi fans really, truly believe that the saintly hok coaching staff stops recruiting a player, just because the player has verbally committed to another school?

I recall quite clearly when the local paper made a big deal about Brandon Meyer committing to UNI, a short time before signing day. Then just before signing day, the hoks must have lost out on a tight end, because they started recruiting Mr. Meyer. He decommitted away from UNI and signed with the uofi. So please don't act like the hoks are any different from lots and lots of other schools. They aren't.

But I guess they would have had ample time to evaluate the young man's high school highlights.

Yeah, I didn't realize that was their mascot. The "Go-Hawks" :dull:. I was just thinking of what Iowa High School he could be going to right now because that is the level of idiotic smack you expect out of a high school kid.

.

Unfortunately there are Hawk fans that think like that. I've spent my fair share of time arguing with them over the years.

No it sounds ******* stupid, but considering the source how can anyone be surprised.

I am actually embarrassed for this guy. What an idiot.

As far as what you said, you are correct about Iowa. Other than the whole almost killing them thing, their staff has done a great job over the years developing talent.

The problem is it isn't what he said at all.

And Blevins offer was a result of them beginning the realization that they can't slowplay every Iowa kid anymore. He may change his commitment, and that would be too bad, but it has nothing to do with anything about what this idiot wrote.

I am under no illusions that the hawks will not get most of the instate kids they truly want, and recruit right away, or they will go out of state. The problem is that they have been able to string kids along, and see if they get the recruits they are after. They have been able to do that the whole time kirkie has been there. The fact that CPR is identifying these kids, and getting commits from them has changed the game more than a bit in this state.

Kids are now choosing Iowa State, they are not just waiting on an iowa offer.

Come on now, you don't really think ISU doesn't recruit players that have made a verbal to another school? Almost every school recruits or at least keeps in touch with players that have made a verbal commitment to another program. Most schools will stop contacting a player if he tells them to stop, most schools but not all. Some kids like the attention and flirt with other programs after they verbal to a school.

Agreed. I had the pleasure of playing against Waverly 5-10 years ago when they sucked at football, loved those games. Unfortunately, we sucked even worse at basketball and they....well they didn't.

I'm not denying that kids want to come to ISU. I think Blevins is a different situation. We didn't offer him that long ago, and I think it's a stretch to think that UI had not identified him before we offered him. IMO, they were probably just waiting for senior film.

Iowa is not that much different than us...they are still an outsider. Big schools will come into to Iowa and compete for all of the top talent. I don't think they really string Iowa kids along when they like them.

I sure hope we can keep this kid. It seems like every 6'4"-6'5" recruit turns out alright for us.

I don't think he was saying that. Shontrelle Johnson (Northwestern), Sedrick Johnson(TAMU?), two commits off the top of my head who were commited elsewhere. At least I'm somewhat sure Sedrick was commited to Tamu, could be wrong.
