There is not a single poster on this site that could get what Hoiberg has gotten out of these guys this year. Outside of a few difficult nights, he has managed to virtually hide our "PG issue". So, I don't take much from anybody's thoughts on what we should have done.

We are 4th, with a chance at 3rd in the conference with no PG. Who else could do that?

Duh. Darn near every commenter here. I take it you're new to this thing called "the internet"?

Mistakes are made by everyone. Missouri played a part in us losing.

Maybe Hoiberg should get some credit for keeping it close.

Scotty had 2 critical turnovers late in that game. Both resulting in a fast break layup.

He was having a great shooting performance that day so they let him have more freedom. I'm fine with that when he's hot. Sometimes you gotta ride your hot hand. Tonight he was off his game, yet he continued to force the drive. I just fail to understand how that's our best option on offense. It simply can't be. It's not something I'm concerned about, I'm just curious as to why Fred seems OK with it for such long periods of time. Scotty is great off the ball.

IMO he is our best option with the game on the line. Whether he be off the ball or taking the point.

I would agree with you on this particular game. I think Fred was outcoached most of the 2nd half tonight... but especially late in the game. Our offense got completely out of whack, and Scotty all of the sudden thought he was Magic Johnson or something by handling the ball the whole time.
how many times did scottie drive too deep and throw it away -- sheesh what a TO mess.?? The announcers had it right Scottie forgot the O needed to run thru Royce.

Again its not about what I expected. I didn't think we would win tonight either. I'm saying we haven't played that well late in games because of the poor play calling and execution.
it is quite easy to say what went wrong after the game. if you could make your wonderful play calling when the game is on the line, maybe you would be a division 1 coach making a million $ a year. LET ME MAYOR COACH!!

Think that was terrible late game coaching down the stretch. Last three minutes of the game we did not execute one set play. Think Fred would have called a time out. We played hard, but those types of losses really make the fans mad. Scott the senior played like a freshman in the second half, and we went away from Royce and its not like there defense was that great. This is why Haith is the coach of the year in the Big 12, not Fred.

No. U jealous of Fred brah?

OK, maybe we've just got a different definition of "good". Do you require a coach to exceed your expectations in order to consider him to be "good"? On one hand, that makes you "old school" hardcore, like Professor Kingsfield from "The Paper Chase". On the other hand, you're not going to be happy very often.

I'm cool with either one, but the only thing about your posts that bothers me is calling out other posters for not being as disappointed as you are.

WTF are you talking about? Late game situations is where we've been thriving lately, except for tonight's game.

By the way, I don't think we ever got into the double bonus tonight in the second half. If we had run the offense through Royce, we would have lost by more because RW would have been on the foul line every possession. Mizzou had already shown their hand with about six to eight minutes left in the game that they were going to foul Royce instead of continuing to let him make them look bad.

Wait a minute.....what was I thinking? Referencing a movie that Rolls Royce's parents probably watched in Jr. High (1973, brah. Back before the internet, compact discs and foil wrappers for Pop Tarts)?

Modern pop culture fail on my part.

i want scottie to shoot after the O has gone thru royce -- i do not want scottie driving deep and throwing the ball away again and again

Again, Missouri had already shown that Royce would be fouled before he could even get the ball to Scottie. We would have lost *by more* had the offense gone through RW.

Yep, we've won tons of close games late and have been very good at scoring after timeouts this season. Missouri was just not going to lose tonight, I think we would beat them at home or on a neutral court the way we are playing right now

If that is what you want and I am the opposaing coach, I would have been fouling Royce while dribbling at about the 1:30 mark.

Can't let bad free throw shooters handle the ball at the end of close games.
