Regarding the 'Monk reached out to ISU' mantra that's repeated so much around here, I believe what Hines said was something along the lines of *he heard he maybe had reached out to ISU* or somesuch. Could definitely be true but however it was worded was far from a statement of fact.

No, he said, "it sounds like Malik Monks group reached out to Iowa State". Reading between the lines, Hines was told this by someone who can't/won't go on the record, but you can bet it was a pretty good source coming from Hines. It was not a hem and haw statement as you make it out to be.

Exactly, Travis is a pro. If he says something of that weight, you can book it that he heard it from a trustworthy source.

I dunno, seems like you add 'it sounds like ...' only when you're not totally sure. Hines cites 'sources' without getting more specific all the time. My best guess is that he heard this from a 2nd hand source so isn't willing to state it as fact. Or maybe we're just over analyzing an off-hand comment :)

If I had to bet a nickel I'd guess he's right btw, and Monk will be ISU's first 5* recruit under Hoiberg.

Malik has moved to Bentonville,Arkansas which is just 20 minutes from the U Of A. It's where Wal Mart Corporate Headquarters is located his mother got a job, there. His brother Marcus, played football for the Hogs is now a Graduate Assitant for the Basketball program. . The Hogs are doing their best to land this kid. I do not believe he is a lock though.

Well he can go to isu and be in the nba after 1 season, buy his mom a house and make it where she'll never have to work again. All while living in a nice safe community in ames. She can live in freds basement until monk goes to the nba. This thing is wrapped up

I'll start training my future kids upon conception if this is part of the deal.

Why a talented basketball player would want to play in the SEC is beyond me.

I feel like it would kind of suck to know you mostly got that position because they want your little brother to commit there.

If this fanbase has learned anything, it's that local kids whose family are employed by the university/community always stay home to play.

Somebody get Roy Williams a plane ticket and a reservation at the nearest casino.

While a transfer and not a high school kid, this recruit was ranked pretty high:
