To all you **** holes that got mad at me, threatened me, and called me names after I said Fred Hoiberg and Minnesota were talking and that Minnesota had offered the job to him.

It took three years, but...

Suck it.

At the least, it seems a rather odd little factoid to drop in a farewell press conference...

Speaking of ex girlfriends, I can only imagine the stories some of your ex girlfriends can tell about the break up.

For the bitter folks - Did any of you think that maybe he just doesn't enjoy coaching college ball as much as he thought he would? I work for a great company, but if I got stuck in a job I didn't enjoy and someone offered me double to leave and change up my roll, you're damn right I'm taking it.

If you're in a job that starts out great (like back when he made the comments about being here forever) but it ended up being something different then you thought it was, why not move on to a bigger endeavor? I just don't get the hate. Coaching college ball just might not be for him and he's come to realize it over the last 5 years. Sounds like a simple explanation to me. Just because someone is good at something doesn't mean they enjoy doing it.

You should really appreciate what happened. He left a much better team than he received. This team is much more attractive than it would have been had he not gone to Ames. I understand disappointment in him leaving, to hear any ISU fan be mad about it is downright absurd.

I just have to laugh at the bitter, creepy vibes some of you put out on here. Believe me, you are not a very good representation of the Cyclone fanbase as a whole. Especially those of us in Ames that have known him for a long time. Cut ties with him? Comparing him to an ex-girlfriend? You are some sad and pathetic people. Maybe get a new hobby? Maybe don't hang out on here so much? I don't know. Just time to rethink your priorities.

i like that the very next post after yours was from "cystalker."

He might as well have peed on my dog. That would actually be a lot better than losing him as basketball coach at ISU.

And yes, Fred made a BUSINESS decision. You are exactly right. That's what hurts. BUSINESS trumped loyalty to school in this. That's what hurts.

I think we all hoped Fred was "different". That he loved Iowa State more than anything and wouldn't dump us like a Gene Chizik did. But nope, in the end he wasn't any different. That's what hurts.

Yeah that's what my position really is. In the end I think this sucks for college sports in general. College football is so heavily biased toward big money and basketball is heading there quickly. Just look at UK. UK is terrible for college basketball yet the media fawns all over them.

Fred Hoiberg made himself the face of Iowa State Basketball. All the Rome interviews, Commercials, Hoiburgers and so on. So when he leaves he takes all that with him and we are left with 'even the favorite son of ISU would rather eat at all the nice restaurants Chicago has to offer'. When people say we should be just glad in happened that's fine but we don't owe him anything either really. He got paid handsomely and he rode the coattails of Hilton Magic to a nice NBA career and now a nice NBA coaching contract. Not to say he didn't put in the work but it was a mutual venture. Yet the fans are the ones stuck here just hoping the success will be sustained but the reality is it could easily slip back into mediocrity or worse. So please quit blaming the fans if they are bitter or disappointed. It's hard enough being a Cyclone fan as it is.

Well... clearly there are some on here that expect... no... DEMAND that everyone on here think, feel, and act exactly as they do. (The holier than thou crowd) Oh... you have a dissenting opinion? How wrong you are sir for having those thoughts and opinions contrary to mine so let me ridicule you for that.

The point of this board is for Cyclone fans to share their opinions... not to be ridiculed (by mods no less) because their opinion doesn't align with what others expect them to have. It's quite funny really.

He's got a good point.

You are free to think and feel exactly as you wish, and everyone else is free to respond to that. Are you saying that you haven't been ridiculing those who support TJ, or those who wish Fred well?

I don't make a habit of ridiculing other posters on here (exception made for Cyber before he was sent to the big Cyclone Fanatic in the sky). Debate opinions? Sure. Ridicule others by making it personal or attacking them? Not so much.

Yes, but for fans sports is not a business. I don't see too many people cheering wildly for the cube jockeys working away at Wells Fargo and Principal.

Being bummed about the future of our program but apathetic to the NBA and what Fred does with Bulls is not hating on Fred.

I feel like thats the natural result of how things get positioned by the teams\coaches themselves. When they need something they want money spent like its not a business (ie dont consider the return on investment, this is something you should be passionate about), but when it interests them 'oh, its a business, you cant blame us for acting like it'

Weird but true. I can imagine the conversation with my Dog: "sorry buddy, but he is the ******* mayor and remember that time you ****** in my shoe? Well now we are even."

Its going to get weird when people start showing up at the hoiberg residence offering their dogs for urination sacrifice.

i feel bad for fred's kids and family. how are they going to survive living in one of the world's great cities, in a 6,000 sq ft house that they'll pay for in cash, living in a beautiful suburb, going to phenomenal schools, while their dad/husband coaches one of the marquee pro sports franchises in a sports crazed city?

I mean, who could have a great life on $5 million a year in Chicago? I'd miss my grandparents so much I probably couldn't do it.

It's weird how Hoiberg reveres the Bulls, and when I saw the GarPax "yea we just fired Thibs and we don't have a list of replacements" press conference, all I could think was "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy."
