ISU Football & Unrealistic Expectations

Saying that ISU fans will accept crap is complete BS. ISU fans are among the most knowledgeable fans anywhere. ISU fans CHOOSE to be fans, even though we know it is going to be hard, real hard. We have been down the fire the coaches route many times before. What we all realize is that the path is going to be tough, but we can get there. I have no problem with starting over, if that is the BEST option. If I believe that CPR can turn the corner next year, and that is the best option, I say we go for it. If the best option is to fire CPR, then we go that route. But I think that most fans know that we have one of the hardest coaching jobs in America. I really doubt that any Cyclone fans are content with losing, but we still have to make the BEST decision as to the route we go with to achieve success.

Well said. IMO, most fans are willing to go along with whatever is the best thing to do. There are some very vocal fans who want CPR gone no matter what. The idea that CPR could return, with what looks to be a good returning roster is what angers them most. There could be a possibility of CPR returning and doing well with this football team next year. And if that happens, then there is no possibility of CPR being fired.....at least for a little while. That idea to them is reprehensible.

What angers me the most is being 11-33 over the past 3 years. And not knowing what down it is.

Just showing that the knee jerk reactions of today look different later.

CPR has had a couple of bad years. ISU is actually better than our record shows. We don't have the wins. But things have changed in the last few weeks. Not really enthused about a lot of those guys on that list.

Some are decent though. Not sure where we stand with all the other jobs out there. Would you take the Minnesota job or Iowa State? Mizzou or Iowa State? Illinois or Iowa State? Indiana or Iowa State? Purdue or Iowa State? Colorado or Iowa State?

Could we option Paul out to North Texas. He could be a fit if we lose the last two games. We could then promote Mark Farley.

Right. Because hiring Mark Farley would be a slam dunk hire and really excite the fan base. What do you project season ticket sales to be?

Yep. Major screw up. One should never assume a first down is made even if the player is tackled beyond the first down marker. They should have definitely used a TO when they saw they had the wrong play called when they thought we had a first down and found out we didn't.

So we've heard this and we've heard that Leath will make JP fire him.

I'd guess neither is true and that Rhoads will be evaluated at the end of the year as it makes a pretty big difference if we are 5-7 or 3-9 IMO.

In theory I agree with you.

Am I the only one that heard Pollard on the pregame show Saturday? The way he was gushing about the first half of the OU game you would have thought we won the game. We did not even win the half for crying out loud. Pollard was setting the stage for Rhoads to be back. We wll know Pollard wants him here. He was going to keep McDermott.

Stinks that I know I cannot be excited about football next year....already! I had zero excitement on Saturday, you know why? I knew we would blow it. It's what this regime has done.

My fear is that he comes back and we are 3-9 or 4-8 again. Another waster year like this season as we should have been in a bowl game. Once next year is done and no bowl game, our roster will not look as good thus scaring off candidates.

We've seen what this staff can do and I am sad that Pollard already has his mind made up.

I disagree with you about what your biggest fear is. Your biggest fear is that CPR wins 8 games and gets another contract extension.

This decision might be out of Pollard's hands. Leath is hands on and disappointed with where we are at.

I am glad you can read my mind.

We are already one year behind in a building effort and getting guys on board with a new staff. We will now be 2 years behind after 2015 and 3 years behind after 2016.

Not that we have much further to sink but we should watch out for KU. I hate to have to even type that.

I remember the rebuilding under Chizik. Great times indeed. And we had a Big 12 North Division and 4 non-conference games.

You redirect an argument more then my kids! Since you are going that way, here is the North from 2007 & 2008. Iowa State was the only real bad team those years. If you want to go 04, 05 and maybe 06 I will give that to you.

No, he could lose the last 2 & will be back.

The decision was made before that, actually.
That's not what this guy was told, but I'm sure different people are told different things.

This is so bad for Iowa State on so many levels.

Listened to the Cy'dLine Call in Show. Pollard was on. From the language used, it sounds like CPR will be back for next year. Pollard did leave himself an out, but it sounded almost 100% certain CPR is back unless the team totally quits and we would get blown out these last two games.
