So sad for Naz and feel a bit sorry for myself and all of the other fans who love watching him on the court as well.

Didn't read this whole thread, so sorry if someone has already asked or addressed this. Does he still get to travel to away games?

He is allowed to travel. I'm guessing he doesn't make all the trips in order to keep a steady rehab schedule.

Good luck to Naz on his recovery. He's got along time ahead of him. Rehab come back healthy, one more year of BB, and enjoy your life after ISU.

Wow, disappointing. Hope he heals well and quickly.

And reading this thread has added another poster to my ignore list. Bet you can't guess who...

7 guys and we're a 6-7 seed but with 8 guys we're a 1-2 seed? Depth is the most overrated thing in college basketball. We have very little room for error now but I definitely feel comfortable with our 7 all season long

you definitely said it best...we have very little or no room for error. Sucks. Naz provided so much more than a clutch shooter.

We don't really foul that much anyway if you are going more than 7 deep effectively you are either a blue blood or a pressing team.

But due to needing to stay in games, I think our starters( who have been criticized for lack of defense lately) have partly struggled because of not wanting to get in early foul trouble. Tough to turn up the defense and worry about early fouls at the same time.

Re: Long Out Rest of Season

Glad Hallice Cook seems to have recovered well from his.

But do we really know if he has? I mean, Naz played 8 games and other than game rehab, I thought he was good to go. Does more minutes mean issues for Hallice now?

****, hopefully Ashton and Carter are ready, because we will need them.

Obviously they're not, or they would have played some 'role minutes' in other games by now.

Re: Long Out Rest of Season

That's a pretty selfish plan by ISU coaches if you are right. What if he doesn't get the medical redshirt?

Can't believe some of this speculation. Naz wanted to play. If they knew they were going to probably lose him, then Hallice and Ashton would have gotten more experience in other games.

I suspect everyone (Naz, teammates, coaches, medical staff, etc) knew damn well this was a possibility. Guy wasn't walking back in May and was playing high level college basketball in November. You're all lying to yourselves if you think people ruled out this possibility.

It's apparent Naz was not himself. Call me overly optimistic, but more minutes for Burton and Hallice could be crucial for next year and Thomas continuing his success could be the psychological break through he needs to become the elite shooter we know he could be. Couple that with poasibility of Naz being here next year and losing an injured player that probably wasn't going to fully contribute this year isn't looking like worst case scenario.

Feel terrible for Naz and the team...makes me sick to think how they must feel. But the fact is that we're losing Naz at half speed...not fully healthy Naz.

Although it changes nothing about reality, here’s a starting point for one-game warm-up shirts for Big 4 game. (Not pictured: Back of shirt: 15 in gold. Obviously.)

I'm sure it borders on "cheesy." — I’m no designer, obviously (needs more sizzle), I’m even worse at finding inspirational quote-slogans and who knows what Mitrou-Long and teammates would think if it actually happened.

Iowa State fans at WFA might get extra juice from it, to help dispose of UNI.

Whatever — I felt like doing it. Get well, Naz.

We could have had him back for next year. Were those 15 minutes in his freshman year worth burning his redshirt year?

The only thing I would say is that the team didn't have its best effort in the game without him...

That was more of a playing Arkansas Pine-Bluff issue than a Naz issue IMO.

You can't replace his leadership and basketball sized stones, but we've got guys ready to step up.

You're just trolling right? Our season would be over if Niang got injured. We can't replace Niang, we can replace Long.

I am absolutely not trolling. I think alot of people on this board fail to understand how chemistry impacts performance. I sincerely hope I am wrong but I think 11-2 non-conference and 11-7 conference is very realistic.

Would naz take our last scholarship available for next year assuming no players transfer or leaves early? I'd be alright with it but a freshman or sophomore would need to step up big

There are different theories on the Ark Pine-Bluff game. (1) It was a let down spit and the team was just going through the motions or (2) The team looked really bad without Naz regardless if it was a letdown spot or not. Michigan State beat that team by 46 points. Everyone wanted to say originally that Ark- Pine Bluff game could be ignored because Naz will be back. Well now he won't be. I sincerely hope I'm wrong and you can look at my posting history, usually a glass half full guy, but I stand by the 22-9 prediction and two days ago I would have said 26-5.
