Javan White - Grad Transfer from Oral Roberts (Ames High Grad) - 2 years of eligibility left. 6'10" - very athletic - Averaged about 11 pts - 9 reb.

  • javanwhite25After a time of praying and discussing with my family over spring break, the door has been opened and I have decided to transfer from ORU after I graduate this May. I am thankful for the opportunity I got to pursue an education as well as play the game I love. I am excited about the new opportunity this will present to me and I believe that the best is yet to come.
Do with this what you will. I heard from a source that Iowa State along with some other big schools(UNC was the only that I heard named), have been in contact with Ames High grad, Javan White. I did not hear whether or not we are actively recruiting him.

I can't imagine any big time schools wanting him but interesting to hear

I’ve wondered if Javan White doesn’t end up as good as Jacobson, but the latter is more of a sure thing.

I don’t know about blueblood level, but a 6’10 230 lb grad transfer with two years left and with his numbers will get P5 opportunities in the spring. He’s athletic enough and I wonder how much that 3P percentage drops if he triples the attempts?

Saw Wigginton RT this last night.

Found this article. Sounds like ISU would check a lot of boxes for him.

“Honestly, I wasn’t really happy in the city,” Darling said on Monday afternoon. “I’m a northern guy, being in the south wasn’t the right fit for me. Also, I’m looking for a new style of play, kind of an up tempo, shoot-a-lot-of-threes-type team. UAB is kind of the opposite of that right now, so I felt like I needed a move.”

I think he’d be a solid addition if we had more than one scholarship open but i think Mcewen and Carr are higher on the staffs wish list for that one spot.

Yeah, I saw that retweet too.

6'5 shooting guard that's 40%+ from three? No idea what type of player he is overall, but with the Wigginton connection and his description of what he is looking for, it could be a nice match.

Career 42% 3P shooter on 188 attempts. Effective FG% of 63% in his conference play last year is very good.

He’s got some Naz and Thomas potential. Two-year old high school highlights (he went to DeMatha):

Nice find... interesting prospect.
I'd hold off on identifying McEwen and Carr as earmarked for the open scholarship and another would need to be opened to add other players.

All we know right now is that ISU is one of numerous programs that called them to see the interest. I am sure well hear of a few more interesting prospects over the next couple of weeks and one could be Darling. Until we see the players cut their list's to 5 and set visits we really won't know who they are prioritizing even if Carr and McEwen do appear to be ideal fits as of today.

Bain released his ISU recruiting mailbag for this week and highlights McEwen as one possibility but, clearly states the staff is looking a verity options just the best talent available which aligns with the Moyer inetrest.

"But I don't think McEwen is the only sit-out transfer the Cyclones are looking at. The source with direct knowledge of the situation said Iowa State is monitoring the transfer market for the best fit, regardless of position.
To me, that means Iowa State isn't putting all its eggs in one basket for its open 2018 scholarship. "

glad there's another reporter following recruiting, but bain has a long way to go before he adds anything to what's already widely known.

I agree. Bain is new to the beat so I would assume he'll get better sources, feel for the prospects and trust of coaches after a while. He did a good job with the in depth interviews with the incoming recruits earlier this year.

Neither one of these are any good. I am an Arkansas fan also. They are ok players. I would say they are not anything more than Jacoby Long type guys. No offense to Jacoby.

Wonder if we are looking at Keith Smith from Oregon. 4 star out of high school. Numbers not real impressive his freshman year but is 6'7. Needed to put on some weight
