#16 Ohio State lost at Rutgers tonight. Would you say their season is over?

Their season isn't over but their Big 10 title aspirations probably are. With 6 games remaining against the teams above them in the standings and 4 of them on the road, losing to a dum dum low tier team is a brutal blow.

You read way too much in to my post, I never said we weren't good. Just that we hadn't played like a big 12 contending team. OSU wasn't a ton different than last night, the first half against KU wasn't really either. You think this team has played to its potential the last 3 games? That the second half against KU was it's peak? Sorry I can't agree with that.
.
And you misread my post- I didn’t claim you said we weren’t good, I said you alluded to “we’re not THAT good”, as in not good enough to be disappointed in losing as a road favorite to a projected lower tier Big 12 team, or as in having the Baylor road loss change the forecasted win total for conference play. And no, I don’t think they’ve played to their mid-season/current potential, which is largely the point. You contradicted your premise.

Few teams play to their full potential every game, but the very good ones are greatly skewed to it. We’re close, and we may get there quickly enough for this roster to reach goals consistent with its inherent talent level.

Since when was Ohio State suppose to contend for a Big 10 title? They arent anywhere close to Michigan or Michigan State so this post makes no sense.

And we weren’t supposed to contend either. We were picked 6th.

Just because you are pissy that we haven’t won one since 2001 doesn’t mean we were expected to this year.

Since when was Iowa State supposed to contend for a Big 12 title?

Since this past Saturday.

I don't believe it was even hardly a thought prior to that.

There's some talent there, and some depth, but ISU still has limitations like pretty much every single year.

I guess I still expect us to contend. If we get crushed inside without Lard this weeken, my optimism may plummet. I’m also assuming KU doesn’t have any more all-stars “redshirting”.

Look at our roster and tell me we shouldnt at least be contending for a Big 12 title. We have 3 guys in the starting lineup who have a ton of experience and have already been through the gauntlet of ACC, Big 10, and Big 12 seasons.

We have 2 freshman and a sophomore who are already showing up on NBA draft boards. We have our 2 bigs on the bench who already have a combined 3 years of starting experience in the Big 12.

If thats not good enough to at least challenge Kansas for a title then I don't know what is.

Were you not looking at our roster when you said we would go 9-9 in conference play this year?

Agree, and if we get crushed inside with Jacobson and Young, then we’re underperforming more than thought.

Preseason expectations, which are based on the weakest dataset for a year and distorted by bias, are a fairly hollow standard to grade to or reference at this point.

This is what I posted in that thread. Where did I say we would go 9-9?

Nov 7 2018

Prohm is taking a huge risk of throwing away the entire season with this little publicity stunt.
It would be nice if we had some inclination of what Lard actually did to warrant this kind of suspension. Academics? Get in a fight with coaches?

The fact is we have 5 big non-conference games that will go a long ways in determining out tournament fate. Even before all this we were a 10 seed bubble team. With Missouri, Maui, and Iowa coming up there is a good possibility we go 1-4 in those games without our best player.

Couple that with a projected 9-9 Big 12 finish even with Lard and suddenly this season isnt looking the greatest.
