If you think Nixon and Bolton are taking the shots they are taking because they think that, you’re not watching the games close enough. Most times, they are shooting late in the shot clock. Our offense, the approach, is straight garbage.

I wouldn't say 'most times', maybe sometimes. And those late shot clock bombs, you have to give them those.

It is so hard to tell at this point and having to lick our wounds for over a week after the brutal loss we just had against Iowa I get why there is a lack of optimism. Losing as much of our offense as we did from last season I expected it to be a roller coaster ride early on. How this team responds going forward will be telling. Two of our 4 losses have come against Big 10 teams that likely will make the NCAA tournament that Kenpom currently has ranked 17 and 20 a loss against Oregon State 61 and a Seton Hall of 21 so all things considered all of our losses are against teams that are in the hunt for the NCAA tournament. We currently are 46 in those rankings. We have some work to do come conference play obviously but there is plenty of opportunity there to get some quality wins.

Real RPI has us at 157 which is well out of the NCAA bubble but again its early so let's see how things play out in conference before writing this team off. We don't have the egos and multiple guys already 1 foot out the door to the pros like we did last year so let's see if they come together as a team and rebound after a tough loss and put a good stretch of games together. Yes I am an optimist so I am going to support this team to the end.

This is one of the most colossal meltdowns following a bad loss in the history of CF

Agreed, but also expected. Got dominated, on our fabled home court, by our instate rival...a rival that almost instantly causes acid reflux and dry heaves just thinking about. It wasn’t even close from the opening tip.

Not really. There were significant doubts going into that game. Another non-conference loss, with only Auburn remaining as a chance to bolster the non-con, has appropriately shifted expectations imo. Our requisite Big 12 wins went up one.

I voted yes, but the pessimism is valid. Last year the staff went 9-9 with a more talented roster that was playing much better going into Big 12 play. In 2015-16 the staff had a great roster and went 10-8, which is probably what we need this year. Thankfully the Big 12 is down this year.

I stated after the Oregon State game that this team wouldn't make the NCAA tournament. I got a lot of flack for that statement. Seems like others are finally seeing what I saw after that game.

Probably wasn't much flack at all, but saying we won't make the tournament after the 2nd game of the season seems premature.

Not the case at all. It’s realization that we are looking at an 8-5 non con record. Even if we over perform in conference and get to 9-9 we are looking at 17-14 going into KC.

I just don’t see a path where we win more than 9 games (I don’t see us winning close to 9 actually) to put us at anything better than 17-14 and I don’t see that getting us in.

This team just isn’t very good.

Valid Reasoning since KenPom has us at 16 wins for this season.....

You bastard! I already posted this vid in another thread!
:D

In the other thread I posted that I thought NIT was gonna be a challenge. Gonna be 8-5 non-con (I am assuming @Auburn is a loss). So need to be 8-10 in conference to make NIT. I'd put us at 50/50 to do that right now. To make the NCAA, I just don't see it, they will have to be 10-8 to be on the bubble at 18-13 overall.

Right now, I am expecting 6 or 7 wins in conference...

Ha - didn't see yours, but that clip came to mind immediately when I saw the thread title.
