This seems more likely to come from Texas:

You should have loved me more.
Yeah, I think Texas likes the idea that they are the bad guy, a bully.

In reality they are the kid that shows up to practice after personal training with all the nicest, unnecessary fancy gear, and talks a bunch of ****. Then when the contact starts they are just a soft *****.

I was thinking about this yesterday. Texas and OU are undoubtedly the big dogs when it comes to the Big 12. Texas is #1 in revenue & OU is somewhere around #8. OU has backed it up with their on field/court performance. While Texas has really meandered in the middle of the Big12, but they make a lot of noise.

If OU & Texas were dogs- OU would be a Pit Bull and Texas would be a yapping chihuahua. Wish I had graphics skills- I would put a couple horns on a chihuahua.

They move fast for people who just heard about this possibility last week.
It’s quite easy to figure out. They got caught with their hand in the cookie jar and are trying to force the cookie down before they get smacked in the head.

They want this to be over with so they can move on. They’re ready to pay whatever fee it is so they can wash their hands and be done with the entire situation.

Not exactly sure.
IMO the ESPN conspiracy with Texas/OU to SEC is part of ESPN's plan to improve the ACC deal for Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina AND more importantly entice Notre Dame to the ACC and away from NBC and being an independent.

In the last year of the Big12 contract with ESPN and Fox- the Big 12 was going to make around $450M to distribute to schools. Based on what I have read, most media consultants expected that the Big12, Pac12 and Big10 could expect somewhere between 40-60% increases in their new rights agreements. So use the midpoint of 50%, the Big12 expectation would be an average of around $775M annually over a 10 year deal. Not sure what the FOX/ESPN split is of the Big12 media rights- but any ESPN money not spent on the Big12 conference can be used to improve the ACC Network deal and increase SEC payouts.
So if IT and OU are worth 100 each, that says the others are 25 each. A 50% bump is 37.5. Where we are now. Proof that they were out to screw us.

The more I think about it, the more I come to the conclusion that the PAC 12 has to act, or they are basically locked in where they are (barring defections) for the foreseeable future.

The most likely scenario, if they don't, is the Big 12 reconstituting by picking off the best programs of the AAC and Mountain West (plus BYU), and that leaves the PAC 12 almost locked into the status quo.

I don't disagree... but what are they supposed to do now? At this point in time. Extend invites?

It'll be a while before anything happens. I think EVERYBODY is watching the B12/ESPN ******** to see how it resolves before anything happens with other conferences.

Imagine if the Big 10 had gotten in bed with ESPN instead of Fox.

No doubt, it will take some time, but things can happen behind the scenes that make the path more clear to the potential schools that would be offered. That's why it's not in our interests to let the negotiations with Texas and OU draw out (they don't want that either). Could be as simple as playing out the string of the media contract while having an agreement for where the schools are going to go afterwards.

Again... agreed. But who is going to risk it now, when they don't have to? I hope that is what is going on, but i'll bet it's not. Nobody knows what is coming law suit wise, etc.

We can't go anywhere until the conference explodes or the GOR is over (one way or another). But it is also true that the longer this plays out without ISU having a P5/4 landing spot sewn up hurts us. Contradictory and that sucks.

Schools just have to inform the conference they’re talking to other conferences. It doesn’t need to be public. I’m sure all of the remaining 8 has already told the conference they’re doing it. There could be a behind doors deal made that doesn’t get announced until after UT and OU pay out. For all we know, the Pac has already agreed to take on Big 12 schools.

I doubt that. I hope so, but...

So there is a mutual agreement from the remaining schools to hold fast until the GOR expires and then scatter?
