I'll wait for your math. What we do know is the P12 $$$ < B12 $$$ (w/OuT). So unless you can provide some solid numbers for OuT being a better draw than say USC/UCLA/AZ/ASU in an expanded time zone market, I'm left unconvinced. Again, not to be pounding THIS solution, I'd much prefer a 'low buy-out' invite to the B1G. But everyone is saying P12 absorb R8. All I'm saying is an aggressive business person would be doing it the other way around.
LMAO the Pac 12 will get a better shake next round of TV deals and NOBODY in their right mind is hopping on the Titanic. The Big 12 is dead, what is it going to take for people to understand this?

Correct me if I'm wrong. This iron clad alliance did not include the B12. Furthermore, from what I've read it means they won't poach from each other. Right?
If they're pledging to not poach from each other, what makes you think they're looking to jump to the Big 12? That would eliminate this 41 team voting advantage they would hold over the SEC.

Also, the ironclad statement was facetious because it's basically a toothless contract, if it can even be considered one.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Aren't you an advocate of the P12 absorbing much of the R8? And, if so, wouldn't the B12 contract be a better one to build off of?

I think it would make sense for the existing PAC to pursue ISU and Okie St.

I see what you mean now, but I guess my assumption is either way, any significant expansion would essentially be negotiating from scratch rather than really using either league's current deal as much of a baseline.

Plus I think the teams with the power and leverage here are USC, Oregon above all, and they would prefer of the two to be a PAC plus a few Big 12 rather than the other way around.

How feasible would it be to renovate Hilton to accommodate hockey? Several pro arenas have NBA and NHL games in same building.

Also could we play at Wells Fargo arena in Des Moines?
Hilton was built to accommodate both basketball and ice hockey. It didn't work out too well. Trying to make ice for the first hockey games was slower and more problematic than expected (ice was so thin sparks were flying causing holdups to pour water on bald spots). When ice had been formed, trying to put an insulated basketball floor on top of formed ice made the floor cold and clammy.

I suppose there have been substantial improvements in insulating floors on top of ice but I think re-installing ice equipment would be cost prohibitive.

The entertainment district would be a perfect place for a hockey rink AND casino
Agreed about the hockey rink (if we ever upgrade from the club level). I think if an entertainment district is going to work, it will need to have as many events as possible in it's immediate area, so any new facilities that will hold fans should be built around it. Also need a few hotels.

Serious question but what the f*ck does that even mean?
How come JP didn’t see this coming and position us appropriately?? We’ve been on a perp walk/death March since the last time Texas threatened this back in what, 2009/2010???

We are saddled with debt that we may not be able to repay. We may require a taxpayer bailout. I fear for our D1 status. We can’t afford to cut any sports. We need a revenue injection or it’s going to be difficult to compete.

An announcement by Bowlby?

You need an announcement from Bowlsby to figure out that the Big 12 is dead? The Big 12 brand has been bastardized for the last 10 year so years, this is just the final nail in the coffin. Even if we have to resort to plan C and add some low value teams the conference moving forward will be a joke.

Maybe because NOBODY saw this coming! I'm not sure what you wanted Iowa State/JP to do, we were fighting with one arm tied behind our backs.

How much debt do you think we have?
