Be more specific then instead of making blanket statements that don’t make any sense — that put down other people here who know they are speculating about the future — such as that everyone here, presumably except for yourself, is talking out of their ass.

And what Dave said is consistent with what I’ve seen elsewhere said by others seemingly in the know in a way and statements in the past in a similar situation. Disclaimer: I am not claiming that what he said or others said is fact. I’m saying it is consistent. Until there is more legal certainty of course people are going to be circumspect in what they say. And JP, unlike many people, has a long established record of not leaking or talking about these kind of matters publicly in the first place.

I was responding to a specific post, I thought I was making myself clear. Noted.

Dave has said things that are consistent with other stuff we've heard, but contradicts other stuff we've heard, and hasn't been confirmed or denied by anybody, and he said he didn't know anything factual.

Hence, talking out of his butt.

And yet you have no way of knowing that.

A subset of what he said is consistent with what I (not “we”) have read and recall from the past.

Okay. The guy said he doesn't know anything factual. I think that's more meaningful than what he said lining up with some of the other rampant speculation out there. We'll agree to disagree.

All of this alliance stuff has me curious about one thing: The SEC. Nothing would make them happier than to rip apart this alliance. I am guessing (purely conjecture), that the SEC is going to throw everything they can at USC and Clemson. That would gut the alliance. They won't care about some 15 year grant of rights with the ACC. They are printing money.

I agree to disagree, including on a matter that it turned wasn’t speculation before, let alone rampant.

The problem with the SEC trying to go after Clemson and FSU is there's something like 15 years left in their GOR. If you thought it was going to be expensive to buy OU and UT out with nearly 5 years left in the Big 12 GOR, think how much more expensive it'll be to go after the ACC right now.

I mean, you're right - the SEC absolutely wants to tear the alliance apart because it's their goal to 100% control college football (Tennessee said as much yesterday). I'm just saying it's not going to be anywhere near as easy as trying to add Clemson and FSU because they're locked up for a long time. USC could be a different matter, but have they ever indicated they wanted to leave the Pac 12? That's a turd that's been thrown against several walls lately and I've never even heard any indication that they're even interested.

Hate to say I told you so but…

Um - we all said that was exactly what they were going to say. Clearly you skipped over the key words "at this time", because nobody is expanding with Big 12 teams until the current OuT mess is sorted out, and the Pac 12 isn't expanding with anyone other than Big 12 teams.

A lot of Pac 12 journalists actually said Houston would be their #1 target but that’s all speculation. I just don’t want this garbage hanging around for a year or two and hurting recruiting. It’s a rough spot to be in.

Really? The PAC 12 has even worse "journalists" than the Register.

First, they're not taking Houston unless they're that opposed to a basically secular TCU that it'll be Houston along with TT, K-State, and OSU going to the Pac 12.

Second, it's time to nut up. It's not getting solved tomorrow, next week, or even next month. None of this is going to be solved until this mess with OuT is sorted, and while I don't anticipate it will go on that long at all, this could go on until 2025.
