"Anybody but Cincy would have given Bama a better game..."

(Meanwhile, UGA is going to go into halftime with a 27-3 lead over UofM. Bama won their game over Cincy 27-6.)

(meanwhile, UGA is going to go into halftime with a bigger lead over UofM than Bama had over Cincy)

And Michigan was FOR SURE worthy of a CFP pick.

*I think they were--it's just GA/Bama and everyone else.

1.) The best four- which should incorporate upside and who is playing their best at the end of the season. We care way too much about some loss in the middle of the season when we make it a season trophy.
2.) The playoff committee.
3.) Because a one game sample is worthless. 18-22 year olds have variance in play, and only needing to get up for a fraction of your games is a big advantage of the G5. I don't care if one team went undefeated and passed their couple hard games while the other got upset. Go with the team that is better. Cincy is not better than Ohio St.
4.)Too much human bias towards this being about deserving rather than who are the best 4 when at their best is why Cincy is in imo. A model like Sagarin had them 6th and Bama 1st. A committee allowed to forget anything but who do you think has the best chance to beat #1 should be in.

Way too much emphasis on record in college football. In the NFL, teams like GB's 2011 super bowl team or Tampa's team last year wouldn't even make the playoffs. Yes, that adds value to the season, but it makes for a bad postseason.

I like college football because it puts emphasis on the entire season.

One of the reasons I am not into the NCAA tournament as much as football is because that can be a team who gets hot during the tournament.

Bingo and the regular season in college hoops has almost no value. Case in point (and yes it’s still football season) but there is a top-10 undefeated matchup tomorrow with us and Baylor…crickets from the national media.

I also do get that if it were Duke/Carolina tomorrow in the same spot we would have heard about it. But basketball for college is all about March. Even though you build your resume leading up to March.

Targeting call against Georgia. Not going to help Michigan however. These Big 10 teams just don’t play defense….

I think Michigan matches up way, way better against Bama. Bama's oline isn't as good so it would be harder for them to neutralize the pash rush like Georgia has. Georgia also has a much better run defense.

The record has to mean something. Are you really advocating that 2 loss Ohio State, fresh off of a drubbing by Michigan, should have been put into the playoff over undefeated Cincinnati?

I don't think the sports are comparable enough. Way more legitimate contenders each year in college basketball.

I disagree though, the bubble adds value to the season to way more teams than a 4 team playoff would. Imagine CBB having only 4 teams go to the post-season. The list of fans checked out after mid-Feb would be huge as you had zero chance to make the postseason. o

To be fair a month ago nobody would have guessed both teams would even be ranked and the date couldn't be worse for getting attention.

If it were like Monday night it would be a big deal as we flip the switch back to basketball.
