Lol, heading there, you are funny!!
Yeah heading there. Sparty won 11 games two season ago, has 3 big ten titles since 2010 which is second to OSU and went to the playoffs once (and got obliterated). With last year and this upcoming year though we are headed towards dumpster fire territory.

At least Michigan is about to overtake OSU

Sweet. No one cares, including the networks.

We are talking national relevance, not to your own selves. When the big ten is mentioned, no one outside your fan base considers MSU a player in the conference

Oh I completely agree when it comes to football. Michigan, OSU, Penn State, and USC are a cut ahead of everyone else. Only time Sparty will ever be mentioned in that convo is if they are having a great year or pull off some kind of upset. Basketball has relevance but that’s not what we were talking about.

Probably high as they can just wash their hands of the PAC10 if the corner schools go to the Big 12 and get their programming at a lower rate.
Plus Yormark already has it in the ESPN contract that adding P5 schools will raise the payment. The Fox contract doesn't have that clause and would need to be renegotiated to add money for more schools.
Hence the motivation for the B1G wanting the B12 to take the 4 corners. Fox makes out on the B1G end (WA/OR), thus probably helping to offset the B12 additions.

The buzz last week was ESPN moving to a subscription based business model in the next 2-3 years. So Disney is converting ESPN from linear to streaming platform. Really no different than Amazon or Apple.

So not sure why media continues to value ESPN's involvement in Pac12 media rights being critical?

They're going to offer ESPN OTC but they're not leaving linear TV.

That’s a really big backtrack from Dellenger (though he still hedged) from his and Nicole Auerbach’s reports last week refuting Dodd saying ESPN/PAC 12 talks were dead
You said it. Dellenger trying to save face. Just man up and give credit to Dodds. Nicole Auerbach (Stu Mandel) has to man up too.

Auerbach is a lousy reporter imo. She was the one who broke the story and then made a huge deal about the “alliance” between the B1G, PAC, and ACC.

When you actually read her story it was pretty obvious there was nothing material about the verbal agreement. And, of course, the rest is history.

Her and Dellenger have the same Pac-12 sources, I'm guessing. There are only a few who've been talking and its the same ones every time. Oregan St. AD- Wash St Prez- ASU Prez

Wouldn’t even call it talking. Just posturing. As Big 12 saga veterans I think it’s important to note the difference.

ESPN isn’t cutting cable anytime soon. Even with cable subscriber losses. Some perspective on the doom and gloom cable subscriber losses dooming ESPN:

Some 74 million households had access to ESPN via traditional cable packages or digital distributors ESPN gets a $9.42 slice of the average cable TV bill.

Compare this to 'peak cable’ 100 million subscribers about a decade ago, ESPN was averaging $7/month slice of the avg cable bill.

Do the math, the rise in how much ESPN makes on a cable bill has essentially offset the subscriber loss. It’s almost equal. And that’s not including the ESPN+ subscription money they are getting, which is between 20-25 million based on their reports.

So yes, they are going to be offering linear ESPN, ESPN2 etc on streaming but they won’t pull the plug on cable until they have to.

10-4. I think some are confused on some of the reporting...

How is this going to work when someone like me is flipping around sports channels? Say you are on YouTubeTV, Sling, Comcast, ATT, etc interface watching CBS, Fox, NBC. Get out of it, fire up Roku or go to your Smart Tv apps, and sign in the ESPN app? That's a lot of work. Unless there is an ISU, Big 12, or some other compelling game on ESPN, I may stick on the main interface, even if 30-50% of the games are ESPN.

My ESPN app keeps me signed in for a long long time (Fire TV). Like months.
