Should fans be allowed to come back in after leaving at half?

I've never left at half in my life and typically look down my nose at those that do. Except last Saturday...never came back. Was north of Ankeny when we got the ball back with a chance to tie. Not proud of it but with a 2 hr drive home I sure was glad I did when I got home at 7:30 instead of 9:30.

I witnessed empty tall boys in the stands, so they aren't checking real closely. Especially when they were more concerned with expediting people through.

They sell beer at Memorial Stadium. Would you prefer to pee yourself in a concourse waiting in line?

With a 20 minute halftime does anyone who actually physically leaves to go to their tailgate able to make it back in their seat by kickoff? I don't know, I've never left. To me it would take me 8 minutes (estimate) to get to my tailgate. 5 minutes to drink 1 beer, during that beer I would talk about the 1st half with my group, which would lead to 1 more quick beer, realize the game starts back up in 2 minutes, head to the bathroom, wait for my wife who is still in line for the bathroom, then 8 minute walk back. I've never left because 20 minutes just isnt long enough for that all to happen. I've always wondered if those leaving have intentions of getting back in time or if they walk out knowing they full well will miss the first 10 minutes.

Gotta know how to make it quicker.



Can talk and drink at the same time. If you insert the tube before the game, you just pop on the funnel and drop the beer in.

Carve out the bottom rows and get the band by the students. Then you have the old band bleachers for recruits, or whatever you need.

Make the SEZ a GA area. Lord, knows that many don't sit in their seats. Have enough room so you can either sit or stand inside (there has to be room because it appears nearly all stand inside anyhow). and the band can take on some. Maybe not the whole band, get a drumline and a few horns at least and you can get that link going again.

I'm not disagreeing with you......and I don't want to make this another thread about how it took a special kind of stupid to hide the students in the SE corner. I'm just illuminating the ground in which ISU athletics finds itself deployed with our current AD and their primary concern not being the atmosphere at the Jack.

Just speculation but my guess is they know they aren’t going to be back in time and that they don’t really care. Depending on the score at half, if they aren’t coming back in time for kickoff if we are playing a Big 12 opponent and it’s 14-14 at half I mark it up to they honestly just don’t give a **** about the game or football in general and are just there to party.

I've gone out at plenty of times and very rarely have I ever been able to make it back anywhere close to the beginning of the 3rd qtr. It just takes too much time.
I think it's time to end the pass outs but that would mean expand concessions and bathrooms.
Maybe reconfigure parts of the north side of Jacobson with bathrooms and a limited concession just to divert crowds to another section.

I don't understand the need to do this anymore. The solution is stop people from leaving and sell all the ISU beers in the stadium. its embarrassing to have a full stream of people heading for the exits with a few minutes left in the 2nd quarter, followed up by a half empty stadium until mid way through the 3rd.

I am sure there a ton of logistical issues with this is probably why they don't do it, but I can't see how this doesn't make money and it keeps the stadium full. Minus the people who just leave and won't come back due to the rule.

With the money being poured into college athletics they need to start treating it like a business and the fans as customers rather than empty pits of money that happen to show up at games. It's time for some of that money to start going to amenities and the fan experience rather than another million dollar raise for a coach or yet another locker room renovation.

It's a multi-billion dollar business that wants to believe it's just selling popcorn to fans in a junior high gym.

I sometimes have a hard time getting to the bathroom and back during halftime, much less clearing the stadium to get out to a tailgate where you would presumably want a few minutes to grab a snack and a couple cocktails before heading back in.

I think you would end up losing a lot of fans for the second half that way. If we were in the upper-crust of college football (Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama, etc.), I think it would be fine, but I personally would have had a tough time heading back into JTS on Saturday, down 17-3 and you can double those odds for any number of reasons (bad/hot weather, obnoxious visiting fans, tired, wife is not feeling it, etc.).

I may be totally off on when the halftime officially starts but it has seemed to work for me.
I feel like the Referee usually starts the halftime clock (20:00) when both teams have exited the field, this gives a little cushion for exiting the stadium. Admittedly, I do watch the final couple of plays from the walkway at the top of my section and then set a 17:00 timer for myself to get out and head back in. I scan out, have some food and drink and discuss the first half a bit and leave once the timer goes off. I'm almost always walking back down the steps to my seat by 2nd half kickoff.

I have in the past watched the first quarter clock wind down and sprinted from my seat to the restroom, done my business and sprinted back to my seat before the 2nd quarter starts. If you time your leaving right you can often beat the rush but good luck doing that at halftime.
