Yeah I mean imagine having to go to replay to determine whether a guy's arm was all the way above his shoulder while making a call? If I were the return man I'd almost do that every time to throw off the defense into thinking I was making a fair catch signal.

You remove all that by having the rule that's already in place.
Yeah, but why keep it so simple, when you could make it more complicated? /s

Ok I have to get this off my chest in a safe space. Cooper is pretty incredible and there’s plenty to admire about the plays he’s made. However, that punt return on Saturday was kind of a gift if you watch it again. He spun out of that first tackle attempt and then miraculously a lane opened right up in front of him between the sideline and about 5 Gophers. More than anything it was tragically bad containment and pursuit by MN. He’s still a great player yada yada yada. I just had to get that out.

Every single hawkeye game has included a few gifts for them. I've watched opponents basically drop the ball to them. It's insane.

It legitimately sucks for Iowa fans...

But it's legitimately the correct call.

ISU fans DEFINITELY wouldn't have local media on our side if we were going ape$hit about a call we were 100% wrong about. It would be our fans as idiots (possible) vs the local media correcting us and probably talking about how we are horrible fans/people for being upset. When Iowa fans do this the local DesMoines media goes full idiot homer right along with them.

The local media is always very critical of ISU fans whining about bad calls. Even with the Big 12 apology letters, that officially admitted wrong doing.

It's interesting to see the difference now, especially since this wasn't a bad or missed call, just unpopular among the fans.

Get ready to start dumbing.

It's a ******* radio show people, it's for entertainment purposes. I have no clue why some people get so worked up about it, wowza. They are catering to an audience, and creating conversation and listeners, which obviously people are doing, even if it's just to complain. This thread is pure humor for me on how so many care about something so dumb and irrelevant. What do you think? If it's boring and 100% equal coverage, there would be more clone fans and success? Don't like it, don't listen.

I enjoy Murph and Andy, the other shows suck so I don't listen (even if I were a Hawkeye). Maybe Clone fans have better things to do or outlets than hawks as Heather, the only clone, is god awful.

Fandom turns people into such whiners.

Turn the radio off and do something else.

Playing to intentionally have close games and winning far more than 50% of them inherently involves luck that can go the other way at any moment.

I don’t care how good D and special teams are, at the end of the day their goal on offense is to make the game close while most teams goal on offense is to make a games less close.

B.S. Just imagine if yesterday they let everyone know immediately on their show that the call was correct and while unfortunate that the officials played it safe and let the play continue to it's completion only to rule the correct ruling, they did their jobs as officials properly......they would have had a hail storm of calls from pissed off Hok fans disputing their opinions, STILL great for ratings! It all comes down to the fact that they are all Hok fans and will back anything positive that's suggested about their situation.

Seriously, my friends and I recently had a debate to come up with what percentage of Iowans are "fans" of: Iowa, Iowa State, UNI, Drake & Others. MY opinion only, but I go with 67% Iowa, 20% ISU, 10% UNI/Drake & 3% Other

CF: OMG KXNO is so biased! How can anyone listen to them?!?

Also CF: Quick, everyone go listen to how unhinged they are!

Part of me thinks they're doing it on purpose because people will tune in just to hate them.

Do you believe Andy's obviously fake schtick that he isn't an Iowa fan and has nothing against ISU fans? Or do you listen aware of the reality of what a fraud he is?

I haven't listened to them in 10+ years since we got radically better options like all the new podcasts and having the Cyclone Radio Network shows on demand on Varsity App.

I knew exactly how they'd react to this without having to listen to a minute of Murph & Andy or any of the other even worse KXNO shows. When ISU gets screwed and an official admission that the wrong call was made that affected the game...people like Andy say ISU fans are horrible people for being upset. When Iowa loses a game on a heartbreaking call that seems to be correct...somehow Iowa fans aren't bad people for being upset and they are even justified for throwing things at Minnesota players and Iowa cheerleaders.

Same freaking guy like Fales has those views. It's hilariously hypocritical.

That seems pretty close. Although I'd have that UNI/Drake # around 3% and the rest going to ISU.

They aren't even really biased, as has been pointed out numerous times in this thread. Our fanbase is thin skinned.

The crazy thing is DesMoines is the one place it might be 50/50 among the big two and the homer media bias is as bad there as it is in IC/CR area.

If ISU fans were hitting opposing players and ISU cheerleaders with stuff thrown on field in a loss the Des Moines media and shows like Murph & Andy would be going BALLISTIC.

They criticize Pollard in an over the top manner just because he fights for ISU when we get screwed on calls that are officially recognized by the Big 12 as being incorrect game altering failures of officiating. I mean they go NUTS on the guy...and it's literally his job to stand up for ISU athletics. I commend Pollard for being mature enough to even continue appearing on KXNO shows, I probably couldn't do it if I were him but it helps ISU.

Haven't listened in years, but per the people who have in each show -- from morning to afternoon -- each of the radio personalities went on and on about how the call was bogus. One of them even said had the call not been made DeJean would get votes for the Heisman.

If all that is true, then it is a far cry from when I last listened. Murph and Andy, for example would almost be laughing at Iowa State fans for complaining about a bad call.

Sounds pretty biased to me.

Before we got good ISU podcast networks I listened to Murph and Andy all the time for probably 6-7 years. A long time.

I never once heard them sympathize with ISU fans on legit bad calls that got officially acknowledged. Andy especially really acted like ISU fans were the scum of the earth for not just accepting getting screwed. To hear him not only be fine with Iowa fans crying...but also fine with them throwing stuff on the field? True colors.

Give me an honest guy like Jon Miller any day. Everybody should listen to Miller's Hawkeye Sunday on IA Everywhere if they want to hear an HONEST Iowa fan talk about the Minn loss who isn't lying about being some "impartial" local media voice. He spits straight truth the entire 30 minutes...best part is he's not being a hypocrite about who he is.

I can't remember if it was when we beat Texas in football and the refs reversed that game, or if it was the KU game at Hilton where we beat Kansas and the refs called a foul on Niang for a KU player jumping on top of him to reverse that result...but one or several of those reactions on KXNO kind of broke me from 'tune in a few times a month after a big game' to 'ok, this is the absolute most ridiculous one sided anti-ISU programming you could possibly create and I will never listen again'.

Your description that they laugh at ISU fans when we get obviously screwed is perfect. Some call will be so bad the national media is pointing it out and siding 100% with ISU fans...yet the "local" guys are calling ISU fans horrible people for saying the same thing the national media and every impartial observer says.

All I hear is wah wah wah. TURN IT OFF.

And your proving my point, you just said a VAST majority of the fans are Iowa. So your saying a show that needs ratings and is only created to make money and sell ads, WANTS AN AUDIENCE? Dear god, how stupid of them. Hey, I'm gonna go open a snowboard shop in Florida because I like snowboarding!
