We are getting him again for sure. I haven’t watched the game back but apparently he must of been terrible given the comments on here but I’ve never minded him.

Brando is very good! Postive person. He has fun and enjoys the college environment. The guy I hate (and we won't get again or at least very often) is Brad Nessler...that guy is an arrogant d-bag! Brando is fun and enjoys the moment!

Anyone remember the tv crew we got last time in Morgantown? It was Brandon Weedon and that super annoying woman (forget her name). They were awful.
Anyone involved in that broadcast had absolutely no clue what they were doing. It was one of the most poorly produced cyclone events I've ever watched. And that's without even bringing up the godforsaken refs that day...

Summary of Neal Brown's comments at his weekly press conference concerning their next opponent, Iowa State:

Iowa State presents challenges. The Cyclones are currently 5-0 on the season and ranked No. 11 nationally ahead of the matchup with the Mountaineers. Offensively, it’s quarterback Rocco Becht that is the engine to the attack and he is currently playing at a high level. The redshirt sophomore keeps plays alive with his feet and is executing the offense at a high level at this stage of the season.

The Cyclones will use a lot of shifts and motions with multiple tight ends but have a pair of pass-catching wide receivers in Jaylin Noel and Jayden Higgins who both have over 400 yards receiving. On the ground, Iowa State will use three different running backs with over 200+ yards this season, while Becht also can run.

Defensively it’s the same three-safety look under Jon Heacock and while it’s not only an impressive scheme, the veteran coordinator always seems to have answers. The Cyclones will mix up their coverages on the backend and have big bodies up front that are long and are able to eat up gaps. The defense is designed to make things hard on opposing offenses and will show a light box, but the safety becomes the fitter.

The Cyclones have been very good in the second half of games under Heacock which means that adjustments are being made and the Mountaineers need to be prepared for that.

Imagine what would happen to our running game if Rocco pulled the ball and kept it a time or two per game? I was waiting for him to pull and keep it a against BU in the second half as it was obvious everyone was diving to the RB on the give. Maybe Mouse is setting up WV to think the same way? Rocco scrambles effectively enough and has been able to get first downs on pass plays that don't pan out. He clearly understands how to protect himself, so I think he'd be ok to do it once or twice a game and help the run game in more ways than one.

Tech is a huge surprise. I wrote them off after their horrible Non-con. But they've been on fire.
I had Tech as a contender preseason. But after a couple dicey wins and a loss at Wazzu when Brooks got hurt, I kind of mentally wrote them off as well.

Here they are at 5-1. No impressive wins - maybe at Arizona. But look at the rest of their schedule-
Baylor, at TCU, at ISU, CU, at Ok St, WV

3 teams that are a mess, 2 home games vs decent teams, and a tough one in Ames.

That looks like 4-2 worst case doesn't it? That's 7-2 in conference and a shot at Arlington...

Are you saying Rocco could add a little "Lamar Jackson" to his game? That would be killer.

I still can't believe that Brandon Weeden was drafted in the first round. He was either 28 or 29 at the time. I guess you have to expect that out of the Browns.

WOI sports announcer last night actually called our upcoming game with WVU, the Riot Bowl, made me chuckle last night.

At the game last Saturday, I saw at least one “read option” play where the back was swallowed up in the line and Rocco looked a tad frustrated. I was wondering if he gets a little tired of these “option” plays where the coaches are telling him he better not ever keep it.

I mean, like you say, these “options” really aren’t options if the QB never keeps the ball. And if they are actually options, I have to wonder what the read really is when the handoff results in a pileup at the line of scrimmage (which leads me to the thinking that the coaches are telling Rocco even if the read is bad for the running back, he still needs to hand it off instead of keeping the ball).

I believe that was the 4th and 2 play on the first drive, and the frustration was directed at Sama, because he completely missed the hole and tried to bounce it outside

There was another one going the other direction too where it looked like Rocco made a terrible read or something. Weird looking play.

Yeah, there's no doubt in my mind that that Rocco keeping it a little more often on the RPOs would keep the defense from pinching in so much on the edges and probably help out the rest of the run game. I watched about 10 RPOS in a row in the Baylor game and by the end those ends were pinching in so tight right off the snap and cheating he could have had an easy scamper outside the end for a 5 to 10 yard gain or so.

Can't complain with the results last Saturday though. No punts. Over 500 yards if I recall correctly. Stretching the D with passes straight down the middle. The emergence of Jackson and his unique shiftiness. Keep it going Cyclones!
