I do think the english muffin is the clear best bread choice for the breakfast sandwhich. I make some incredible breakfast sandwiches at home and an english muffin fried in a pan is easily the best value.

Bagels are just too much for a sandwich. Croissant can be good but it has to be just right and probably from a real bakery. With english muffins just about any kind/brand works great if you pan fry/toast it, the cheapest grocery store brand can still be great, I use from Trader Joes and they are like 33 cents each.

The only thing that may top an english muffin is frying some slices of fresh sourdough bread from a real bakery. Regular sandwich bread cannot compete.

I've never made homemade biscuits for them, but even great biscuits just kind of fall apart, like croissants they taste good but not ideal for a sandwich.

Kristy Kreeme free donuts! Anyone who say’s else wise is either a pinko Commie or RWNJ.!!:D:D

We have Krispy Kremes and Casey's Pizza at all tailgates where the game is early. Krispy Kremes are like a mouthful of grease infused with sugar anymore.

I tried the Casey's Waffle Sandwich, but the waffle portion was really dry.

Bacon egg cheese biscuit from just about anywhere is ideal, but I'll happily eat McDs breakfast burritos when given the chance.

Hardees' biscuits are right up there IMO.

I make batches of homemade breakfast sandwiches and freeze them so we have them for the week as an easy grab and go breakfast. Throughout getting everything right I tested English muffins, biscuits, croissants, and bagels. The only one that microwaves well in my research was the English muffin, so that's all I use. And then I have different meat/egg/cheese combinations, so we have a variety of 4 different breakfast sandwich types.

Chick-fil-A has a great breakfast burrito. Chicken, eggs, hashbrowns.

I’m not seeing enough love for the bacon, egg, and cheese toaster sandwich from Sonic. Sublime with a side of tots

When the grocery prices went ballistic I realized a bowl of cereal was costing more than making my own breakfast sandwiches and 10x what making oatmeal costs. So now it's breakfast sandwich maybe 5 days a week and oatmeal with fruit the other days. It's a little more work but so much better while saving some $$$. The more I make them the faster I get too.

Oatmeal? What prison are you serving time in?

I took all five kids to the dentist at the same time and told them if none of them caused a scene, they could choose junk food after. They all wanted a Krispy Kreme donut. 60 percent threw up on car ride home.

About only breakfast fast food I get is Casey’s breakfast pizza and it’s what I choose for pizza at night too.

Testifying
The Wendy's breakfast sandwiches are super underrated, but this is offset by the abomination that is their potato option in the value meal. McDonald's has the better coffee, so they win the contest. But IMO, Wendy's does a better job with the sandwiches.
I love the Wendy's breakfast taters.

There aren't blueberries in the McGriddle pancake, you ******* peasant.

That said, Hardee's Frisco or Casey's bacon pizza are the 2 correct answers here.
There definitely were at one time

Abomination.

To be clear, I've never actually had one. It's a matter of principle though.
if I have eggs and pancakes on my plate, I will always eat the eggs first before I put syrup on my pancakes. I think the flavor created when syrup touches those egss is repugnant. However, I do like a Mcgriddle.

Since you took away my ability to vote for Mcgriddle I would have to say the sausage egg and cheese bagel is my go to. I alse realy like the sausage egg and cheese crausant from BK, but we no longer have one in Ames.

The one time I tried a "mcgriddle" maybe 15-20 years ago, I'd describe it as a rubbery sponge with little pockets of pancake syrup hidden within. Even if they made something like that which tasted great, I don't think I'd want to be putting meat/cheese/egg with it.

Given the quality of fast food in general it's hard to imagine they've gotten better since.

Taco John's has the best fast food burrito.

Can't believe I didn't see any mentions of the McDonald's bagel sandwich. I would consider that 1A with the McMuffin being 1B.

The problem is that they don't toast the English muffins well enough, usually. And if you ask for them to be toasted a little extra, you might as well ask them to burn it, because that's what you're going to get.
But when you've had one done perfectly - it's what keeps you coming back for more. Like, damn, I remember that time it was toasted perfectly without the black char. That was beautiful. If they could dial that in, I can't imagine a better fast food pick. But alas, Chick-Fil-A has uniformity dialed in.

This was short lived at BK, but was awesome (other than the sesame seeds). It was literal death as a sandwich; eggs on top, eggs on bottom, lots of bacon, lots of sausage, lots of cheese...

I love the McDonald's Bacon Egg and Cheese Bagel. Went away for a while during Covid due to supply issues (at least that was the story). Still love them but now they're approaching $7 a pop!

Used to be a big fan of the Bacon Egg and Cheese Croissant at BK. Had a few less than stellar ones show up in the last few years so don't get them much anymore.

Casey's breakfast pizza is a great option.

(I'm just not a huge fan of sausage, so always go with the bacon option.)

Breakfast burritos are my go to…

Unless you are in Austin, TX, where they only serve “breakfast tacos”. (Smug longhorn sob’s)

Also, none of that San Diego BS of putting French fries in the breakfast burrito. Gimme hash browns in the burrito, not any of that French fry insanity.

McDonald’s biscuits are some god-awful mass produced, delivered frozen, microwaved garbage.

Hardee’s biscuits are the Helen of Troy tier of breakfast food
