Keep alcohol out of Trice. You drunks will have to smuggle it in with the rest of the students.
Well they really don't make it too hard to smuggle in 1 yr I had a extra roadie left put it in my back pocket and wrapped my sweatshirt around my waist.:)
Drank it in the 1st half and was good.

I took his comments to be a dig on CyTown

Maybe but in late 90s/early 00s the answer to all of Ames problems were "we're getting an awesome mall" which is hilarious now that every "nice 2000 mall" is basically a ghost town.

As cold as the last gsme it may have been frozen oranges. Those suckers would hurt.

LOL, back when the B8 was tied into the Orange Bowl 1st touchdown of the season Oranges would rain out of the student section:). No idea when the tradition ended? Life got in the way for me for quite a few yrs I kmow it no longer happens but not sure when it stopped.

I recall it still being "tradition" when I got to ISU ('83), but it seemed to dwindle.

Teams stopped being a thread for Orange Bowl bid, for one thing.

At some point, too, not long after that, residence hall food service stopped serving oranges at breakfast on game days. Not sure if that made a dent in the practice (you certainly could "save" oranges throughout the week, if you're truly motivated).

Exhorting fans to give more $ to NIL and the Cyclone Club while talking about taking your families to Disney is certainly a take.

Of course you are. Just not the greatest timing given the theme of the podcast.
That’s completely unfair to us and our families and quite candidly disrespectful. Nobody is forcing anyone to give to NIL or Cyclone Club and sharing info on why Iowa State is in this situation is not exhorting anyone.

I am guessing JP has an issue with the value of the SEZ and beer sales throughout stadium.

If they disallow reentry with beer sales, there will be outrage as well from people who won’t stand in line for a $16 beer, although not sure how they figure out pricing. People will still bring in booze given how they price stuff.
yea SEZ and Johnny’s I’m sure factor in to the decision. It’s probably time to start selling to appease some fans though. Polling re-entry vs alcohols sales would be interesting.

We’re not allowed to have a vacation with our kids? Good grief.
What they said: “hey, folks that have discretionary income, this is a great way to help Iowa State continue to be competitive”
What some heard: “if you’re not taking out a second mortgage on your house our only eating saltines, are you even a fan?!”

Brent is not the problem. He’s trying to help keep ISU sports competitive. Unfortunately in the near term, this is a pretty black and white scenario. We either go along with the increases and support the team/school…or we fold and become less competitive.

Between Jamie and Brent, we probably have two of the most fiscally responsible people in charge of their respective operations in all of college sports. There should be next to zero concerns about waste or abuse.

I’m not saying any individual person should be put down for not getting on board and sending dollars, but that’s the reality of the situation.

I do strongly believe we have a cultural issue of encouraging these athletes to go get whatever they can though. I’ve touched on this in the thread about Brock. If you’re hoping for Brock to get everything he can, you’re supporting this situation. Dak Prescott is making more more each game he sits out due to injury than some here will make in a lifetime…and yet fans struggle to afford to pay for a family of four to attend.

The college situation obviously isn’t there, but it would get there if it were up to ESPN. Better regulation (including max salaries/NIL payouts) should absolutely be a thing. And we should 100% get behind our ISU athletes who are taking less because they appreciate good culture/fans. And candidly, I think that includes getting behind Jamie and Brent…TJ and CMC too…who understand that culture, and are doing their best to find the best path forward (and at least with Jamie, barking at people he thinks are trying to ruin college athletics).
