I was at the game. The crowd tried, unfortunately there's only so much you can do in a game like that.

Every time the crowd tried we'd turn it over or do something else to blow the momentum.

KSU really gave us a chance to get back into it when we went on our run, but we sputtered and let them run it back up again.

Hard for the crowd to have much to cheer for. I mean, after putting up a quick 14 early only getting 47 the remaining 37 minutes? That's going to take any crowd out of the game.

The ISU coaching staff continues to be poor at breaking the opponent's momentum. Between the first and second half, it took ISU nearly 12 game minutes to get from 33 to 43 (hit 33 at 3:10 remaining in the first half and hit 43 with 11:41 remaining in the second half). Over that same time period, KSU went from 28 to 58. That's nuts. There was a whole half-time break in there to regroup. And then to top that, another scoring drought at the end of the game. On your home cour nonetheless.

ISU is more talented than that from a player-standpoint. This is a genuine pull-head-out-of-arse issue for the coaching staff. They need to figure it out.
TJ is just always a possession late on the timeout. He waits until they hit the dagger three and not the possession before to make it a quick 7-0 run or whatever.

I'm telling you, the whole team had this game circled. This was their Super Bowl. They wanted it more.

It seems to be (or was, now) a problem for this team. They were getting everyone's best shot, and were struggling even in wins. Luckily we won't have to worry about it for awhile. Teams won't get up for #13 the same way they get up for #3.

Makes you start to respect how good those top KU teams were, when they got everyone's best shot, could be everyone's best win, and still crushed them.

Chat was a bad addition. Jackson is trending that way.
Chatfield and Jackson were /are both good additions.

They will both have their games, good and bad. Both of them are playing against better competition, consistently now.

Getting better than these two will require us to be in a bidding war in NIL, most likely. We cannot do that. Expecting more is not always realistic.

No use complaining about. Besides, both will come back and make their marks again. There is a lot of season left.

Bad day all around. Maybe it's a good thing that it's a quick turnaround to the next game on Monday. I get the feeling that game might tell us a lot about how the rest of the season is going to go.

Guys.

ISU athletics exists to remind you that hope is for idiots

Football should’ve taught you this over the years

Grab a beer and watch it burn

I'll grab a beer, but I also choose to have hope while I do so. Were things on fire today (in a bad way) for MBB, yes, but comments like "watch it burn" seem extreme.

It’s a long season with lots of games left to play. The coaching staff needs to find a way to get the energy back for these players. It’s been very noticeable over the last few games that the Cyclones are playing with tired legs.
Yep. All teams will run into stretches during the season where they really struggle. Tennessee's a good example of that right now. Today was brutal. I do think KState's a lot better than their record.

As you said, lots of hoops left, and a lot still to play for. We need to get right @KU.

At this point all I can say is that the rest of the regular season doesn't matter much (excepting a wheels-off collapse where they lose 8 games in a row or something silly). They're out of the running to win the Big XII, that's over, and they're most assuredly out of the running for a high seed in March. So at this point just try to improve, stay healthy, and make the NCAAs. A deep run there is the only goal left since the rest are done. (Sure, a Big XII tourney win would be fun, too, but a deep NCAA tourney run matters a whole lot more)

Tennessee? They beat #5 today handily.

Your general point is spot on though. KSU has guys and a weirdo for a coach and he's the only reason I can see how they have that record.

I get what you are saying at it relates to the overall impact of a season, but EVERY game matters as the team gears up for the NCAA tournament.

You're setting yourself up for disappointment if you think we're going to win in Lawrence on Monday.

I think the fanbase needs to reset expectations. Everyone will be a lot happier.

I totally agree. If we want to finish near the top of the league standings, @KU's really kind of a must win. If we get punked by a lot at the Phog, the losses might really start to snowball.

So, @IlliniCy @keepngoal @RagingCloner

Care to enlighten everybody why this is dumb? Please, oh please, impart your wisdom.
I dumbed this because even the teams that inevitably get the 1 seed won’t have looked like it all year. Your overdramatic shtick is tiresome. Did this loss suck? Sure did. Does it classify as a bad loss? 100%. Am I just as pissed off as everyone else? Of course. **** KSU. Does this team have a **** ton to work in on in the middle of a super short turnaround? Absolutely.

There’s still plenty of season left. They’ll get it figured out. Do you want them to face and overcome adversity now, or get surprised with it in March?
