Wtf is this thread? Miseed the game last night so was about to wach it this morning and this is the top thread? I guess others aren't as excited about beating one of the best teams in the country by 17 as I am.
Jamaal Tinsley averaged 4 TO's per game. He also averaged over 6 assists per game. If Gilbert was getting more assists, we could live with it. As it is, it will make things tougher to win.
The competition is much better now, so it is much harder to get away with getting yourself into a precarious spots. It's weird because for the first 1/2 to 2/3 of the season, we were one of the best teams in the country at not turning the ball over. Now it's a disaster every single game.

That's unfortunate but aren't you the one always preaching about how it's a game of runs and momentum?ISU was up 24 and let AZ back in it to get to 9 with a bunch of turnovers, hurried shots etc. including at one time 5 possessions in a row.

I specifically remember you talking early in the season about how it's so easy to come back from double digits deficits now.
To answer your question, didn't look at stats, turned it on when I got home from a movie, saw Jefferson get picked and cut to 9, and then watched them comfortably watched as the ended up winning by 17 3 minutes later.
I guess that's why they play 40 minutes.Yes, it is a game of runs, it can be quick to come back etc. I still believe that. It happens all the time.
AZ was definitely going to go on a run at some point, maybe get it to 15 or at least press for one.
That's a different thing then ISU making it easier for AZ by hurrying possessions and getting picked at half court multiple times, etc. in a row from simply not being patient with the ball.
If you watch the last 7-10 minutes and are impressed, more power to you.
And I guess TJ finally said Gilbert is not seeing the floor the rest of the game. His turnovers contributed to the run. Once he sat game settled back in. Back and forth but Arizona was not getting extra possessions at the volume they were before.I guess that's why they play 40 minutes.
Lipsey is still primary.Lots of fouls late in the game that gave Arizona a chance to get points at the free throw line with the clock stopped.
Have TJ changed who mainly handles the ball when setting up offense or bring the ball up from early in the season? Does Gilbert handle the ball a lot more? Didn't he use to shoot a lot more 3's early in the season?
Is he trying to pass more when driving in the lane instead of going to the basket?Lipsey is still primary.
If Gilbert has some leg strains, he probably is not as explosive as he would like to be
Also last year he shot 202 free throws this year 114 so far..So he probably is not getting some of the calls he got last year.
In the first 4 Big 12 games he got to the line at least 6 times in 3 of them.
Since then he has gotten to the line 6 times only once, and that was a win at ASU. Last night he did not get to the line at all
So like I said maybe injury does not allow him to be as explosive, and harder to get the D to reach. Something is off somewhere
Probably, he needs a pull up shot, he tries to go off glass everytime. Is he trying to pass more when driving in the lane instead of going to the basket?
He needs to anticipate the collapse better and pass before he gets completely surroundedGilbert was trying to do to much, teams have figured out he wants to drive to the hoop and they are doubling him when he gets into the paint, which is leading to turnovers. He needs to get back to drive and dishing it out to the open man when they collapse on him, instead of trying to weave it through to score. This teams needs the Gilbert we were getting at the start of the season, and need Jones to start hitting shots again.
The competition is much better now, so it is much harder to get away with getting yourself into a precarious spots.
You take away Gilberts 7 they had 9 as a team.
Not sure if it was a team thing tonight
Damnit- now I’m buying some at my HyVee run today.Turnovers? I prefer apple, but cherry is nice too.
Turnovers are gonna happen but we have about 5 to 10 of them a game that just leave you wondering wtf are we doing. Just fumbling it under no pressure, low % risky post entry feeds from impossible angles, driving under the basket, getting stuck and trying to make a crazy pass to one of our bigs in a clogged lane. These are Turnovers that should easily be eliminated if you are an intelligent team.Wtf is this thread? Miseed the game last night so was about to wach it this morning and this is the top thread? I agree. We’re a hell of a lot better with Gilbert than we are without him.Wtf is this thread? Miseed the game last night so was about to wach it this morning and this is the top thread? I guess others aren't as excited about beating one of the best teams in the country by 17 as I am.
