With Gaines and Essex on board, what's left now? RB Adams/Townsend? DT Orange? Any high priorities in the secondary?

Adams is being recruited as an M. Townsend is likely for a RB, but we’re getting really close to “wait and see” territory.

As in, “wait and see who comes back for ‘22”.

Completely on the outside looking in this is what I see. @cyclone4L please fill us in on any tidbits available.

7/28 Q Adams, sounds like a silent comitt

RB- Xavier Townsend, really like seeing the Tampa guys working on each other. Warm to the Clones.

S- Idris Williams, St. Pete and warm to the Clones.

Ath- Idris Williams, outskirts of Tampa and listed as warm.

LB Rose, would love to have him but already having 3 comitts I understand the lure of Stanford.

DL- Dominique Orange, still listed as cool but the Essex comitt can't hurt.

DL- Tawfig Thomas, still cool but another Tampa guy. All that size, Eyni 2.0?

With the talk of Deyo possibly being better suited on O seems we might be looking to add DL.

Idris Williams isn’t even close to being on the table right now. Totally aside from the fact that Jeremiah Cooper has already filled the same role.

One guy fills all the loses we are going to have to replace in the secondary? Great news!

Considering it’s literally not what I said…

Cooper and Williams fill the same role. Both are about 5’11” 170, about the same athleticism. They both slot at free safety in Heacock’s defense.

That FS slot in this class is filled. Williams hasn’t visited (and isn’t scheduled to), but other safety prospects with different body types have. If I were guess and to pick one, I’d say D’Angelo Hutchinson, because he could fit at either SS or Star.

That also aside from the fact that we really loaded up on good safeties the last couple of classes, and aren’t hurting for safeties for ‘22–even if Eisworth, Amos and Isheem Young all leave.

From the allotment standpoint it's exactly what you said, but cherry picking something negative is your M.O. I point out who's warm on 24/7, you pick the guy you proclaim isn’t even on our radar.

With Hutchinson likely gone to the NFL after this year, I wouldn't hate going after the best juco wide receiver on the market.. I know that's not the staff's style, but why not this year?
Oh and also go get a couple other guys iowa has also offered, just to rub it in their nose.
We have bigger needs than a juco wide receiver. We also don’t recruit guys just to piss other teams off. Obviously, it’s great when that happens.

If CMC can close things out with Adams, Townsend, Rose, and either Thomas or Orange, that will be icing on the cake.

With the number of high quality offers that Orange has, how is he a three star?

“Cherry pick”? I saw on the one guy that hasn’t already been covered by other people multiple times, and addressed his situation. Among the 29 June official visits who could be expected to possibly commit to ISU, he wasn’t one of them. It wasn’t intended as anything more than that.

You’re the one who keeps overinflating what I say. Mainly, by continually reading in stuff that isn’t there.

Edit: Also, I do apologize if I wasn’t clear enough with my first response. I was working on something else at the time.

I would really like to pick up another OL and RB for sure. I would like a great slot receiver and corner with great lockdown ability like Johnson. I trust the staff in recruiting, thought I wish we could get some things figured out on special teams

Noble Thomas is a lockdown type corner.

Another can’t hurt
Agree, I doubt we'll see near as many guys take the extra year this time around. This year's seniors will feel a bond to this year and last year's teams. Most will feel the desire to pass on the torch after this unprecedented season. My guess is we'll only have 2 or 3 guys choose to come back for the extra.

I think we have 6 CBs on this year's roster, if Johnson and Young move on we're going to need another.

wonder why he hasn't taken any visits? no crystal balls. really slow playing this recruiting game. maybe he waiting will late to see how things shake out recruiting wise for his top schools? I hope the staff can land either him or thomas. Can never have too many DL or OL. Those positions have plagued ISU for basically my entire life sans a few years. Getting quality skill players is a lot easier than getting a dominant OL or DL unit in place. But what do I know, I'm just a couch QB.

I mean he’s damn close to a 4 star FWIW.
