mine varies by year. this year its South Carolina. Last year it was too.
I really liked Stanford in 2010 with Luck and Harbaugh.
In 2008, Florida and oklahoma.. tebow and that spectacular OU offense led by sam bradford. Seriously, who has a 4,700 yard passer and TWO 1,000 yard rushers on the same team?
I can go back to around 2001
I went to Oklahoma for the ISU game a few years back when we lost 50 something to zero. Have family down there, and OU was the only other school I applied to because I enjoyed the campus so much. Still not a fan of Stoops but I enjoy watching them play and their facilities are pretty amazing.
I don't have a 2nd favorite, but I did get my doctorate from Nebraska so I don't mind if they beat up on the B1G. I really enjoy watching numerous teams especially high powered offenses like Oregon, WVU, etc... I also like watching the SEC power defense teams (LSU, SCAR, BAMA) just to see their D-linemen, those are some seriously impressive athletes.
And I obviously like to see the Big 12 do well on the national scene, mad respect for the Wizard in Manhattan and Gundy in Stillwater.
We live 60 mi from Tuscaloosa. All our friends here are die hard. The only thing that protects you from being Bama-ized here is if you happen to be a Barner (what the locals call Auburn fans).
I am from Minnesota originally, and am a huge Gopher hockey fan and that beelds over a little into football. I find it hard to cheer for a College team I have no stake in.
Notre Dame is my 2nd favorite for sure...yes there are a ton of haters out ther but going to a game in South Bend should be on the bucket list of any college football fan. It is an amazing atmosphere, I am hoping to start a tradition of going there once a season for a game (on an ISU off week of course).
It's pretty much a tie for me between Wisconsin and LSU. It is almost as enjoyable to have teams that you cheer against... for me those teams are Michigan State, Ohio State, Nebraska, USC, Alabama, Auburn, Mizzou, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, and Boise State.
Missouri State... Daughter went there and son-in-law was a running back there back when they were halfway decent and still named Southwest Missouri State. They have a terrible football facility and of course Terry Allen is still their coach screwing them up. I kind of have a soft spot for the Bears.
They have a great soccer program so they should give the soccer teams (men and women) the football stadium and build a new Plaster Sports Complex somewhere else that was more impressive and might allow them a path to D1 in the Sunbelt or something like that. They had nearly 20,000 undergrads when my daughter went there and were actually had a larger undergrad enrollment than Mizzou at the time.
They just spent a ton of money on the Basketball Arena so maybe Plaster Stadium is next.
PS: I think they play the Hawks in a year or two..... That would be a good time for them to do a Central Michigan in IC.
College of Wooster (I'm a student so I cheer for them alongside ISU. Plus they're D3 so they'll never play ISU) For big time college football, I cheer for the land grants (except Nebraska and PSU) and the underdogs
Teams I like watching when on:
Arizona State- Almost went to school there before choosing ISU.
Florida- Lot of family from Florida, all big Gator fans.
Northwestern- Love an underdog, and what Coach Fitz is doing in Evanston
Michigan State- My B1G if I were to have one. Considered going to school there.
