I am absolutely addicted to Diet Mt Dew! I like other sodas but I don't crave them. I wish I could stop drinking DMD cold-turkey but it won't happen. Anyone here have any success quitting soda? Any advice on doing so? Something to help with the transition to...water? I am not someone who feels everything I put in my body needs to be the healthiest stuff ever...but I drink way too much DMD and that can't be good! Appreciate any advice/guidance IF I choose to go down this path! Thanks!

I gave it up about four years ago and switched to 1/2-1/2 sweet tea. Switching vices helped me a lot. Over the past year I've dropped nearly 25 pounds, and actually started drinking fountain Coke again here and there. But it's probably time to cut the sodas again.

quitting soda was one of the hardest things I've ever done. There was a couple years when I worked for Pepsi and drank a lot of Mt.Dew. one year I gave it up for Lent and it was painful as I didn't realize how hard it was going to be. Lots of water and advil helped me get through it the first 2 weeks.

Now I do enjoy a Dt Dr Pepper on very rare occasions, but that is about it.

Good luck.

Toasted Caramel BV goes really well with Dr. Pepper diet regular or sugar free!! Now I have a real problem, drinking soda and alcohol together.

Why would you want to do that?

I don't want to imagine my life without a Pepsi, Mt Dew, flavored Mt Dew, Dr Pepper or Coke.

I look forward to my soda like many of you look forward to your beer.

Yeah...I am asking myself that same question! I just think I drink too much DMD! At minimum I need to cut back some!

Used to love Pepsi, Mt. Dew, and Dr. Pepper and also drank tons of coffee. 2 years ago I cut out all caffeine cold turkey about 4 months before my son was born. Grand plan was that I'd be able to start up on coffee/soda again during newborn phase and the caffeine would actually have an effect. A few weeks into fatherhood I realized I had no need for it and felt great without! Now I'm a decaf coffee guy (just love the coffee taste) and tea (mostly caffeine free varieties).

The only thing that works for me, when I'm craving soda is to chug water. Like A LOT of water. Suppresses the urge to snack as well.

My skin cleared up and I ended up losing about 8 pounds in a month. I will have a soda every now and then but the key is to just CHUG water. I also will drink coffee in the morning for caffeine. When I really need energy in the afternoon. I just stand at my desk or go for a quick walk

I probably should too but I enjoy it to much

Dr. Pepper or Fresca in the morning
Pepsi at lunch
Mt. Dew afternoon
Coke while working on the racecar
one of the above while eating supper/watching TV

Fresca in the morning instead of Dr. Pepper is my cut back lol

I quit drinking pop in college, kinda as a challenge to see if I could. It lasted for several years. I now don't drink much, maybe 10 times per year or less.

I switched to drinking Gatorade, which is probably marginally better. And then beer . . . :jimlad:

The last time I had a Mountain Dew I couldn't fathom how I used to be able to drink 3-4 each day. Way too sweet.

This is me once I switched to diet sodas.

Regular sodas taste too syrupy now. Ive cut back on them recently along with the other things I've been doing to lose weight, but I need some caffeine.

I don't drink soda for the caffeine so it's not that big of a deal to limit myself to 12oz a day. I'm still drinking the hard stuff (ie not diet) either Mt Dew or Coke

Frankly, at that amount a day stopping wouldn't be that difficult (I have before) but it also wouldn't make that much of a difference in my weight.

It's hard for me to drink more than 24 ounces though, I start to feel terrible. I don't know how some of you do it.

I use the soda as an afternoon snack, so when I stopped I just replaced it with a healthy snack (granola bars usually).

If you're one of those people who need caffeine for your body to operate and lots of it I think I'd go with tea

My thing is the carbonation. I crave the carbonation and I haven't found a carb'd water that equals it yet. I limit myself to Sprite so I'm not caffeine crashing, but I know the sugar content is nuts.

Long time diet dew and Diet Pepsi addict. Quit about 6 months ago. The only time I cheat is a Diet Coke if I get my kid a Happy Meal at McDonald’s. I do hot tea, cold brew coffee, and the caffeinated Crystal Light drink packets if I need caffeine.

I had a heart attack 3 years ago. When I changed my diet, I also stopped drinking pop. Before that, I was drinking a bottle of coke several times a day. Now I allow myself to drink Sprite but I limit how much and how often I drink it. I don't drink coffee, so I haven't had any caffeine drinks in 3 years.

It took some health issues 20 years ago for me to quit. I was literally addicted to Mt Dew, drank 4 or 5 a day as a teenager. Quit cold turkey and have never touched another soda since. I drink alot of water now.

I look forward to my soda like many of you look forward to your beer.

I'm rapidly developing a gut as I get older. That's why.
