I thought Shulman and Bills were excellent last night. Made it feel like a big time game.

Let’s hear everyone’s complaints.

Shulman is a pro's pro! Very good! I like Bilas...but I can see how some think he is a bit dry although that is his style...very analytical. I am sure some didn't like how he kept pointing out our unforced turnovers...but it was true. In a tight game those could kill us...nothing wrong with him pointing out areas in which we can clean up a bit.

OK to point our unforced TOs two or even three times, but he just kept going. We got it, Jay.

I felt like he was covertly saying we were the (much) better team and should have been running them out of the gym earlier than we did.

Bilas is obviously a super smart guy and knows the game but you just don't feel the passion for college basketball like Raftery, Fraschilla, Vitale and others give you. Just a different style. Shulman is very good with basketball but he's ELITE doing baseball, one of my favorites out there.

That said, give me Boog and Fran 11 times out of 10.

I mean I was saying the same thing last night as well from my house. I think it’s fair to say we’ve been a little sloppy the last 2 games and for sure could come back to bite us.

My dad was probably tired of hearing me talk about our carelessness with the basketball.

Agree. I liked Bilas last night, and I'm not sure he ever brought up Duke!

I liked how he was pointing out the unforced turnovers. It reinforced what I was observing, which was ISU taking the ball away from KU, and ISU giving the ball away to KU. ISU was eating their lunch, while also giving up unforced turnovers. Without saying it outright, he was saying ISU was the better defensive team.

I thought he broke things down pretty simply and even said so. When discussing all of the KU turnovers he apologized for being simplistic but said something like "turnovers do three things and none of them are good: prevent you from scoring, from getting second-chance opportunities and from getting fouled which are all things you want your offense or effort to create". Those who are really into basketball or long-time viewers might think "duh". But my young son commented saying "all I ever really thought it stopped you from doing was scoring".

That was my observation as well. On one hand, it gave me a different perspective than my "homer" response to "just clean it up" as he framed it in what sort of impact it had on our game. This translates directly to our ceiling as a team. Without the plethora of unforced turnovers, this game is never in doubt, and most games from this point forward would follow suit. On the other hand, it was unnecessary to bring it up as much as they did.

I was really disappointed I didn't hear more about Cooper Flagg.

I all seriousness, Bilas did his homework and I have no complaints. I like Fran and Rafferty (Rafferty because the games take on a March Madness vibe) and they are both knowledgeable of our team. Picky for me, but sometimes Fran's "that's what we call a . . . ." line gets tiring, as if he feels he needs to teach the game as he calls it, but I can live with that because if they send Fran you feel like it's a game of importance. Settles is professional in his approach but I laugh when if a player makes a play that he doesn't routinely make he automatically becomes "elite" in Jess's eyes--again not a biggie. Beth Mowens does her work but I just don't enjoy her voice. I enjoy the games regardless of the color or PxP. Maybe it will become of more importance if I loose my vision

All true, but I think a certain number of turnovers is acceptable, and pretty much necessary. If you never turn the ball over, you probably aren't being aggressive enough. It's just a fine line between aggression and carelessness.

One of my pet peeve's is when football coaches or analysts say something like "The team that wins the turnover battle will win this game". Ok, just have your offense take a knee every play then. You'll be guaranteed to win as long as you don't turn it over.

Point being, in order to make plays and try to win the game, you will risk turning the ball over to some degree. It's inevitable. For basketball, I feel like if we're at 12 or less for a game, that's pretty acceptable. Less than 10 is really good.

Totally agree...but I think he was surpised we hit our average number of turnovers for a game in the first half...right? Didn't we have 9 or 10 at half? Had someone predicted that...and at the same time said we would have a 10 point lead at half...I would have taken it but wouldn't have believed it. Guessing that Bilas was a bit surprised at the number of turnovers and the high rate of them that were kind of unforced.
