Yes... This. The Hoks won't have to stomach for it.

Testifying
Can somebody tell me why Iowa has to play 7 home games every year? Are they that cash strapped?
Is this common practice in P5 prgrams. I always thought every team should play 6 home and 6 road games period.
That's been a teeter totter of Hok troll opinion here over the years. Some say its needed, some say Iowa has plenty of money.

No JP realizes playing a Big Ten West team is a lose/lose situation for us from a national perception so he wanted to schedule an SEC team instead

If there is one thing I'm 100% sure of, its that JP has never cared what his decisions look like from a national perception. He does what is best for ISU and the Community, and selling out our stadium on top of a huge influx of people into Ames every other year for this game is a great thing. If you don't understand what this one game does for ticket sales as a whole in the years we play Iowa, then this argument is not worth having.

This has been true 3 times in the past 10 seasons.

Toughest Oppenent doesnt mean you lost to that team.

The actual best team that Iowa has played each non-conference schedule.
2010 Arizona L
2011 Iowa State L
2012 Iowa State L
2013 Northern Illinois L
2014 Iowa State L
2015 Pitt W
2016 North Dakota State L
2017 Iowa State W - still ridiculous that we lost that game.
2018 Iowa State W
2019 Iowa State TBD

I can see why the Hawks would want to get someone better on their non-conference schedules, because they're rolling through it so easily over the last decade. lol.

I never said toughest opponent means we lost to them. I was using the Sagarin ranks for each team and listed the team with the best ranking that season.

What are you using for your list? ISU in 2014 was awful. And yes, I know Iowa lost to ISU that season.

This game literally prints money for both schools. There's no downside, especially with parity recently.

I can't read the article, but what is their concern?

That it makes for a boring schedule. Which I get, we can say the same thing. That being said, it's not either of our faults. Iowa State or Iowa could schedule an additional P5 game if they wanted

I don't think it injects as much revenue into your athletic department/The city of Ames than the Iowa game.
Or the UNI game. But that sh#t has to end.

I used to be down on the Iowa game but now I don't really care. Iowa/Minnesota...they're both P5 opponents. Sure I'd like some variety with our P5 ooc opponent but if it has to be Iowa a guaranteed sellout works...
