The crazy scenario we get in is Michigan has CoVid issues and cancels game vs. tOSU. JP swoops in and offers tOSU a game in Ames next weekend (they will need another game, they won't get in with only five games). We win and also take care of business in Dallas. We are in. You wanted crazy, there it is.
This would be so awesome.

tOSU doesn't have the balls to come to Ames.

Before anyone says anything, I know this is a crazy scenario, so I'm not posting to debate that. I just wanted to see what everyone here thinks about if this happens:

Current Playoff standings:
1. Alabama
2. ND
3. Clemson
4. Ohio State
5. TAMU
6. Florida
7. Cincy
8. Georgia
9. Iowa State

TAMU loses to Auburn this weekend (which I actually think will happen)
Florida loses one of either Tennessee or LSU
Ohio State doesn't play enough games (I believe the minimum is 6 and the B1G keeps cancelling games)
Georgia ends up making the SEC ship and gets blown out by Alabama
Cincy loses to Tulsa on December 12

ND also will play Clemson in the ACC 'ship. If Lawrence plays and ND blows out Clemson, there's a chance they could be knocked out as well if one of the above doesn't happen.

In a wacky scenario like this, does ISU make it (assume ISU wins against WVU and Oklahoma/Oklahoma State in the conference championship) to the CFB Playoff? I feel like this is the only scenario where we can pull this off.
I really hope that we have a reason to worry about a playoff in two weeks. It seems at this point I can't even imagine being in the playoff. I sure hope we all have a reason to look towards the playoff after the CCG.

Exactly. But can you blame them? Who would want to schedule a game against this team right now with a playoff berth on the line? They would ask the league for a game against Kansas, K State or Tech.

The Earth would stop spinning if the CFP Committee allowed a 2 loss ISU team in the playoffs. Ain't happening. Enjoy what we have.
Agree, that Cajun loss looks really bad, even though they are ranked. Cant blame a team that we now know was dealing with a covid breakout before that game.

If you look at the results today, how teams are currently playing, we should be ahead of Georgia, I would almost contest we are ahead of Florida and A&M based on the on field performance. We dismantled a good team, beat a good team on the road last week and annihilated Kstate. Look at recent trajectory and overall body of work, I can argue us at 6 or 7.

If we can handle OU and have one thing break our way, there is an outside chance. Like, .01%.
