Crazy Scenario...Does ISU make it to the playoffs here?

Ok but what if we get drilled in our NY6 game like Iowa did in the Rose Bowl after coming within inches of the CFP?

At this point everyone thinks Alabama will beat the tar out of most everyone save a couple of teams.

And what if we get paired with Cincy or BYU in that NY6 game? A win is cool for only us as fans but program wise doesn’t do anything. Now what if we lost to one of them? Ugh can you imagine that national narrative?

“The Big 12 was not good this year. Iowa State lost to a Sun Belt team and another G5 team yet won or contended for the conference title.”

I think this ISU can play with anyone in the country outside of Alabama and Clemson with the way we're playing right now. The loss to Louisiana is garbage because anyone can see the difference between the team now and the team that day.

If this plays out, I'd be much more worried about the staff leaving if Michigan position is still open.

We could beat any of those teams pretty easily, except for maybe Bama. We’d make it a game but they are an NFL team and are on another level.

They’ll move Georgia up for their loss to Alabama.

This is true and why they make sure there are plenty of SEC teams ranked highly just in case one slips. If somehow the perfect scenario unfolded to where ISU beat WVU and OU again with everyone above them taking a hit......the talking heads would just say that just means OU blows and so does the Big 12.

Lets win a BIG 12 championship first so NFL talent will want to come here, then go unbeaten in the BIG 12 and book a playoff berth. In the meantime we need to figure out where to find the money to Keep CMC and some of the coaches.

I find it funny that we keep saying that the Louisiana loss is what disqualified us, when it is more likely that the Okie State loss is what did it. The committee has shown year after year that when you lose is just as, or more important than who you lose to. Losing early is much better than losing late.

But you can’t guarantee that we wouldn’t get smoked in a NY6. I don’t think we would but you just don’t know. The Big 12 could be hot garbage this year and we were just the best of it because there were no non-conference games. The only ones we got were where we got humiliated by the Sun Belt who went 3-0 against the Big 12. Those are the facts.

Remember Notre Dame in the bowl game last year? Look not saying we couldn’t make it interesting for a bit, but we saw the difference in elite talent last year. Remember we beat OU but it’s always a down to the wire game when we do. These teams in the CFP have embarrassed OU aside from Georgia a few years ago.

I would still love to line up and play even
Bama but let’s not get carried away here.

10 out of 10? Idk man a crappy ole miss team took them to the wire. I don’t think we win but I don’t think they’re this juggernaut that would kick our crap in 10 out of 10 times.
It was early, and they were schooled by Ole Miss. Doesn't matter why, but it was not the norm, and Alabama is playing at a very high level right now.

However, after watching Iowa State today @ Jack Trice - if they beat OU in the Big Xii Championship Game, I'm all for a shot at the Tide instead of the Cotton Bowl.

It would be a hell of an accomplishment for Iowa State Football!

You think CMC is afraid of Bama...#whereisbamaatcausewewantem

The crazy scenario we get in is Michigan has CoVid issues and cancels game vs. tOSU. JP swoops in and offers tOSU a game in Ames next weekend (they will need another game, they won't get in with only five games). We win and also take care of business in Dallas. We are in. You wanted crazy, there it is.
