Crowd Noise

My personal favorite is when everyone knows music is playing but can't hear it enough to get in clapping rhythm, then there's that awkward 3-4 second transition while everyone tries to get in sync with the music after it quiets down a bit.

This has been bothering me all year. It takes a lot away from how crazy it could get in there. It sounds like a technical problem rather than by choice because when the volume goes up a little the sound starts to distort. I hope it gets fixed some time this year, hopefully by Monday.

Well, wasn't that 108 measured with a lot of time left in the game? If I remember correctly, she said the KU vs. OU db level was measured at the end of the game. I'd be interested in hearing how loud it actually was in the last minute or so of that game as we took the lead for good.
Some clone fan needs to monitor this for KU game and inform us..

What has happened to our music levels inside of Hilton? It feels to me that it is WAY lower than years past. I think it was Texas last year or 2 years ago that the music(bass) was chest pounding loud and it hasn't been that way at all this year.

Anyone else notice this?

I would agree, the pregame music is quieter than last year, at first I thought they just weren't ramping it up until the B12, but it seems quieter to me.

I didn't think the sound compared at all to last year's Oklahoma game or this year's Iowa game.
Also, there were 5 empty seats in the row in front of us and two on the aisle just beside us. Very strange to see so many empties.

It was louder than Iowa from the second row. My ears were ringing from time to time. Didn't happen against Iowa. I expect KU to be better (louder), beating #1 is fun, but beating KU is better. Man it is nice to have the students back. Baylor game sucked.

Nooooo...

I am firmly convinced that our fanbase is clapping impaired. They suck at clapping in time with the beat. As a person with a music background it makes me crazy!

I've noticed this as well, especially pregame. Warm ups and introductions seem flat due to the 'quiet' music.

Also, anyone see the new intro video last night? I thought the split to the new music was a bit awkward/awful..

Anybody else miss the Big 12 coaches video before the game. Booing Bill Self was always a nice pick-me-up for our fans.

Look no further than our struggles through clapping along with the fight song to back up your point. However, there were multiple times during timeouts when I couldn't hear the music AT ALL and the crowd participation falls apart.

Yes, I have noticed this. My buddy and I bring it up each game. My guess-people complained it was too loud last year. Ramp it up!

When the crowd gets out of sync, it usually finds it way back.

The thing that gets me is when the band starts playing and the crowd stops chanting. It happened late in the game last night and the students stopped a Cyclone Power chant that would have built and lasted all through the timeout. When a spontaneous chant takes over the arena and dominates a timeout, that is pure Hilton Magic.

I loved the old version was BA. I not a fan of the new version.

I hate when there's a chant going and the band starts playing and ruins the whole chant.

The band trumping the student Cyclone Power chant toward the end of a game is a travesty.

Indeed. This year, it seems almost like they don't really care about how these videos crank up the crowd.

What I want to see is If we beat KU... nobody rush the court... it will **** KU fans off more than if we do rush the court... and Everybody loves #JayhawkTears

I saw one section in the upper deck above the team that had 3-4 rows at the top nearly empty. Other than that, from my POV, there were very few empty seats. Students filled up their overflow, and that place was packed.

I think that section is an 'emergency' overflow for students for big games, and was sold as single game tickets for other games. For the Iowa game those rows were full of students, and I expect it to be similar for KU.

I fully expect the sound to be at Allen Fieldhouse levels on Monday. Better pack the earplugs, people, it's gonna get LOUD!
